Look and Build

The BlitzWolf BW-AS1 Bluetooth speaker has a classy, clean design. It’s housing has a matte silver finish and is made of anodized aluminum oxide. It has curved edges with a perforated front face plate. Along the edge of that front face plate is a shiny accented strip, which contributes to its look of elegance.

On top of the BlitzWolf BW-AS1 Bluetooth speaker there are four button controls, including the power button, a play/pause/call answer button, and the volume up/down controls. I like the simplicity of this layout, although I wish there was a track skip/previous track button as well. The back side is ported, and also has the micro USB charging port and the 3.5 mm aux input port.

Functionality – BlitzWolf BW-AS1 Bluetooth Speaker Review

The BlitzWolf BW-AS1 Bluetooth speaker has a solid battery life of about eleven hours and stayed connected to my phone with no drop outs for about 30 feet. One of my favorite qualities of the speaker is its sense of directionality. In other words, it is easy to play music to entertain yourself without bugging someone in the next room, so long as the speaker is pointed away from them.  In general, it’s volume level was loud enough to fill up a smallish room, but I wouldn’t recommend it to folks looking to rock the house. It seems to be more of a tool for easy listening as opposed to an aid for a dance party.

Sound – BlitzWolf BW-AS1 Bluetooth Speaker Review

The sound of the BlitzWolf BW-AS1 has a solid amount of bass, although it’s not so over-the-top that it is overpowering. It will vibrate against the surface where you place it, so the bass response sounds the best when the speaker sits on ultra stable, heavy surfaces like countertops as opposed to free standing surfaces like tables. The midrange is tilted toward the high-mids, so vocals tend to sound louder in the mix than usual. The high frequencies aren’t particular extended, but have a bit of emphasis which brings out greater detail in percussion and cymbals.

Overview – BlitzWolf BW-AS1 Bluetooth Speaker Review

Overall, I would recommend the BlitzWolf BW-AS1 for someone looking for a small, classy looking speaker to play music while they cook or play light music during dinner parties. This one won’t be for bass head dancers, but will be for those who want a more controlled and mature environment.
