Fostex T60RP

Fostex has added a new wooden headphone to their semi-open line up. Meet Fostex T60RP.

The new addition looks similar to that of the 50RP, but it’s fashioned of wood rather than traditional durable grade material. As most of you probably know, wood has phenomenal acoustic properties as in its density reflects sound. The African Mahogany housings of the Fostex T60RP were designed to provide depth to the sound of the RP diaphragm, which is proprietary and made of polyimide film with copper foil etching. The headphone has also been fit with newly developed yoke panels that are less than half of carbon material. As a result, the diaphragm delivers more efficient magnetic transmission for better linearity. The neodymium magnet is said to provide “wide frequency reproduction, superior transient characteristics, and a high input tolerance up to 3000mW.”

Thanks to a genuine leather headband and newly developed circumaural ear pads the headphone provides “superior comfort” making it ideal for long listening sessions. The wooden cans include a newly implemented straight-type detachable connector, however there are additional premium cables available for purchase, including an XLR balanced cable.

As for sound, the headphones deliver accurate and crisp sound with a wide soundstage across teh frequency range of 15Hz-35kHz at an impedance of 50 ohms.

Specs:
Type: Semi-open
Impedance: 50 ohm
Sensitivity: 92dB/mW
Max Input: 3,000mW
Freq. response: 15 – 35K Hz
Weight: Approx. 380g (excluding cable)
