Update 3/12/2017: Google Jamboard is said to arrive in stores in May for $5000 with an annual “support fee” of $600, according to Engadget.

Tuesday, Google announced a new digital, collaborative, and very expensive tool coming to an office near you (if it’s in the budget). Meet Google Jamboard, a $6000 digital whiteboard.

Jamboard is looking to take your staff meetings to the next level with a physical and digital creative and collaborative unit. Jamboard is a 55-inch 4K display that is equipped with built-in speakers, camera, Wi-Fi, as well as a stylus and eraser for your on-screen doodles. The display is pressure sensitive, which allows for the stylus to “draw” on the screen.

Google Jamboard is also able to access G Suite which means items in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, as well as photos from Google Drive can be brought up onto the screen. Items drafted on the board can be stored in an Apple Cloud-like feature called Jams.

For staff members who can’t make the meeting, or don’t want to walk up to the white board, they can access and edit Jamboard in real-time from a smart device.

As New Atlas points out, Jamboard looks to be Google’s answer to a similar product released by Microsoft called the Surface Hub, which works with Windows and Microsoft Office. Jamboard, however will retail for a lower price than its competition – around $6000. Google Jamboard will be available sometime in 2017.
