Design

Eartips come in all shapes and sizes and in the JBL Focus 700 Sport Headphones, the eartips are designed to sit outside the ear canal. I like this design quite a bit as it feels a little bit safer for my ears.

The earphones are built with ear hooks attached to the earphone housing. The hooks were built for folks with slightly bigger ears than mine, so they didn’t fit right up and over my ear. Even so, I was able to tuck the tip of it behind my ear, stick the eartips in my ears, and wow! I’m impressed with how sturdy they feel. I can feel their non-slip material and if any earphones are going to stay in place while exercising, these certainly will.

Overall the earphones feel quite durable. While they don’t have a detachable cable (which would really give them a 5 out of 5 in durability, the charging case feels like it will keep the earphones safe.

Bluetooth

Range

The JBL Focus 700 Sport Headphones begin to break up with their Bluetooth connection a little over 30 feet away. They work best when they have a clear line of sight with their paired device. It is also worth mentioning that JBL’s wireless products often are able to pair with two devices at the same time, and these earphones are no exception.

Battery Life

The battery in the JBL Focus 700 Sport Headphones lasts up to 8 hours. Additionally, the Charging Case holds up to 16 hours of playback in its charge. Therefore, if both batteries are full, they will last for 24 hours without recharging either one.

The Charging Case is super convenient for travelling or long exercise excursions.

Sound

The Focus 700 Sport Headphones carry the JBL signature sound. That means they have a thick low-end, strong mids, and decent highs. I like this type of sound a lot for hip-hop especially, but it also works for rock, and guitar driven music. I particularly like the sound of drums through these earphones as they are both punchy and huge at the same time.

The soundstage of the JBL Focus 700 isn’t anything to write home about. I didn’t expect anything wonderful at this price point in a wireless in-ear so I’m not too bothered by it.

Overview

For the $79.95, these are a great pair of headphones for those that like to move, whether it be by exercising or travelling. And while they don’t have an idea soundstage, the other conveniences make up for it. The Charging Case lasts for two full charges of the earphones and make them ideal for taking anywhere.
