Meet Light Phone 2, A Minimalist’s Dream

Light Phone 2

After years of loading our phone with all of the unnecessary features we can think of, one company is going back to basics. Like, just the basics. Meet Light Phone 2.

Meet Light Phone 2, A Minimalist’s Dream

The first installment of Light Phone was simply a phone. It featured a keypad and that was about it. Light Phone 2 adds a few more features, but only those that serve as the basic essentials for a mobile phone.

Running 4G LTE, Light Phone 2 features a modest black and white matte display and two buttons on the side for making selections. Light Phone 2 is said to be more reliable, durable, and practical phone than its predecessor. I’m sure techies have got questions about the operating system. Well, Light reports that they are keeping things “light” as their operating system uses a few thoughtfully implemented tools, with physical buttons to scroll through your customized ‘toolbox’ and a typographic interface that is a pleasure to use.

Light Phone 2 will definitely feature call, message, contacts, an alarm, and auto-reply. Light, who wants to keep communication simple advises they aren’t totally against tools as there is a possibility this phone or future versions will also be equipped with directions, ride-sharing tools, playlist, weather, voice command, weather, calculator, or dictionary. Teh mobile device will most definitely not include social media, advertising, email, or news.

This phone seems quite cool and simple enough that I may grab one in lieu of my iPhone 8 Plus. It’s perfect for moments where you need to be productive or need some “me” time.

As you would expect, something this beautifully crafted and slightly counter to culture would be made in Brooklyn, New York. Probably by a hipster. Maybe my neighbor…? Anyway, I digress.

If interested head on over to Indiegogo and pledge at least $250 to get Light Phone 2 at the early bird price. Orders are expected to ship April 2019 (not this year).
