Guys! There’s going to be a new addition to the JBL speaker family and it’s an exciting one. Introducing, JBL Xtreme 2.

New Release JBL Xtreme 2

The first generation Xtreme was due for a tune up and it’s finally here. The older model, while powerful, featured a few outdated elements in comparison to its completely waterproof speaker brethren, like the Flip 4 and Boombox. The JBL Xtreme 2 is now waterproof with an IP rating of IPX7 meaning it can withstand temporary immersion in water. Usually that’s for up to 1 meter in water for 30 minutes. This is quite a leap from the first gen which was designed for water proof fun at IPX4. Splashing water, fine. Jetting water, better not. However, this speaker now features water-tight enclosures and rugged fabric. It still features integrated hooks and a durable metal base, but a bottle opener has been added to the carrying strap making the speaker easier to transport.

As far as features go, the Xtreme 2 has also upgraded its syncing component to Connect+ from Connect which enables it to pair with more than one Bluetooth device at one time. In fact, Connect+ allows Xtreme to sync with up to 100 other Connect+ enabled speakers at once. This includes other Xtreme 2s, Boomboxes, Pulse 3s, and  Flip 4s. Basically, the Xtreme 2 just became even more party-people friendly. You can host multiple speakers at once for a party both indoors and outdoors. There’s also special Bluetooth streaming capability that allows two users to connect to the device at one time.

As for sound, the speaker is also built with a noise and echo cancelling speakerphone, allowing it to even make calls or host conference calls when paired with a smartphone. Furthermore, it features a USB charging port, allowing users to charge any smartphone or tablet. It’s also built with super bass radiators for better acoustic and bass delivery whether outdoors or indoors. The lifespan of the Xtreme 2 is 15 hours.

Speaking on the new unit, Andy Tsui, Vice President, Smart Audio Business Unit, HARMAN said, “The JBL Xtreme 2 elevates our entire portables line, setting the tone for greater, more powerful sound. We’re excited to see where our consumers will take the new Xtreme, designed to give the user a truly unique and versatile listening experience, no matter where they go.”

JBL Xtreme 2 will be available for $299.95 in Spring 2018.
