Samsung Galaxy S8 May Eliminate Headphone Jack

Rumors are flying about the Samsung Galaxy S8 which is to be released in the first quarter of 2017. In addition to an improved camera and a possible “all-screen front” which would eliminate the physical home button, the inside word is that the headphone jack will be gone as well. Although some Galaxy S fanatics are not completely ready to accept the lack of an on-board headphone jack, the future is clearly headed in the “wireless” direction. Apple already took the lead in this development with the iPhone 7 earlier this year and most smartphone developers will likely follow suit in the near future.

Samsung has been giving the Apple iPhone a run for it’s money with the Galaxy S line of smartphones so it’s no surprise that they’re likely going to eliminate the headphone jack as well as making other groundbreaking changes so quickly. It’s going to be interesting to see how things play out with the two top-selling smartphone brands. But let’s face it, this is what we dreamed about all our lives. Ditching the wires and gaining freedom from the technology tether. Although sound quality is generally sacrificed with wireless audio, this will not last forever. Technology generally keeps up with consumer demands and soon wireless audio will be the best and maybe even the only way to make calls and listen to music on all our daily devices. Let’s hope it’s very soon because wireless is destined to be the way of the future.
