FIT – Sony WH-H800 h.ear on 2 Mini Wireless Headphones Review

The Sony H800 h.ear on 2 Mini Wireless are a comfortable on-ear fit.  The grey leather ear pads are soft, plush and feel snug without putting too much pressure on the ear. The headband also has a bit of leather in the middle; it’s not luxurious, but it does the trick.

DESIGN and FEATURES – Sony WH-H800 h.ear on 2 Mini Wireless Headphones Review

The Sony h.ear on 2 Mini Wireless are the little sister to the original Sony h.ear on 2 Wireless Noise Cancelling headphones. This new model comes without the active noise canceling feature. It also doesn’t have touch pad technology like the larger pair, but it’s very cute looking and folds into an adorable handful!  Don’t be fooled by size. These cans sound big and deliver 24 hours of playback. And it only takes 10 minutes of charging to yield 90 minutes of playing time. Bluetooth pairs quickly, and the functions include the basic power, play, skip and call answering via three easy buttons. For those who like a completely hands free experience, Sony also offers the Voice Assist function. And let’s not forget the colors! These come in green, orange, blue, black and gold.

SOUND – Sony WH-H800 h.ear on 2 Mini Wireless Headphones Review

Wow. I like. The Sony h.ear on 2 is a punchy, warm and well balanced headphone. Drums and bass really pop, and in general, they feel very dynamic. Let’s talk details.

Lows

Sony always does a great job in the bass department. Listening to hip-hop, the lows are huge. Bigly. These minis will make your head vibrate at the lowest frequencies. Pop, hip-hop and EDM are perfect genres for the h.ear on 2 Mini Wireless. It’s not an incredibly dry or transparent bass sound, but it also doesn’t muddy the rest of the mix.

Mids

The mids feel good. There’s a lot of emphasis on the lower end and less in the higher mid range.  So, it might feel a little heavy for some. But these cans are lush and meaty, and they work great for big rock choruses.

Highs

The highs have a sweet tone, but this range is probably the least pronounced. However, there is an overall roundness to the sound that makes the highs pleasant to listen to. Still, if you’re into classical music, perhaps the Audio-Technica may be better suited for that style.

Soundstage

Not much of a soundstage to speak of here, but that’s expected with wireless headphones that don’t cost over a grand.
