It’s no secret we are in the age of streaming music wars with artists selecting certain platforms to release major music exclusives. Last week it came to light that Spotify may be making it harder to find artists who release exclusives on Apple Music or Tidal.

Spotify Says It Is Not Burying Artists With Exclusives on Apple, Tidal

Spotify refutes the claims telling The Verge, “This is unequivocally false.”

The media got wind of the potential scandal after an artist (who literally shall remain nameless to protect their career) declined appearing and debuting a new track on Apple’s Beats One show hosted by DJ Zane Lowe for fear of losing his promotions via Spotify.

For emerging artists this type exposure is monumental to their career and success. For bigger acts, such as Drake, who specially released Views for two weeks on Apple Music, they remain unscathed by these types of actions.

However, other speculations of sabotage have been heard to hit other large artists. The Verge reminds us that Apple was suspected of uploading a less than favorable version of Rihanna’s “American Oxygen” after she exclusively released the song to Tidal. Page Six also adds, “Apple was accused of sabotaging Tidal by intentionally taking a long time to approve Tidal’s app updates.”

Woah! Serious stuff. I guess time will tell before we find out what other dirty deeds are going down in the world of streaming music wars.
