Sudio Tre Wirelesss In-Ear Headphone Review – Full Sound Transparency

Sudio Tre Earphone Review

Swedish earphone manufacturer Sudio has a knack for making stylish headphones that are ergonomic and built to last. Their most recent earphone is the Tre Wireless and it’s a lot different than most earphones on the market. Priced at under $100 I’m curious to find out if the design is the only thing going for the Tre Wireless or if it holds up to the quality standards of their previous products. On my desk I have the Sudio Tre Wireless earphone in black and I’m about to run it through a full review.

In The Box

The Sudio Tre Wireless earphone comes with the following:

  • Tre earphones with 3 pairs of wing tips
  • Owners Manual & Quality Assurance Card
  • Leather Carrying Case
  • Metal Clip
  • Charging Cable

Design

The design of the Tre Wireless earphone is calculatingly trendy and minimal. The Tre Wireless Black is a slick looking earphone covered almost completely in a matte black silicone type material. The sweatproof in-line controls have dark glossy buttons that are fairly easy to find but take a little time to get used to.

Looking closely at these earbuds you’ll notice what makes the Sudio Tre Wireless earphone different from most others. The Tre Wireless uses a special design that doesn’t use ear tips. Instead this earphone sits in the inner ear and simply directs the audio into the ear canal. The Tre Wireless holds itself in place with ergonomic stabilizers that add extra grip while you’re out and about. Admittedly this isn’t my favorite style of earbud as I prefer the tips that go in the ear canal but I know this will still appeal to many people. This design is fully intentional too. The folks at Sudio call it “full sound transparency”. This thoughtful engineering is so you can be fully aware of your surroundings while listening to your music and it works quite well.

Connectivity / Battery Life

The Sudio Tre Wireless earphone connected to my iPhone right away with no issues and I was playing music within a minute. In my “around town” test I did get one brief dropout but it picked back up right away. The range was about the same as the posted specs but line-of-sight was an absolute must in order to prevent signal loss. In all the time I used the Sudio Tre Wireless earphone I never had to charge it so the 9 hour battery life spec seems legit.

Sound

The Sudio Tre is a very unique style of earphone and in fairness can’t be judged directly up against an in-ear headphone that uses silicone tips. With that being said it’s perfect for inner-city commuting, biking and daily running routines. This sweat resistant earphone is intentionally designed to let sound in from the outside which will keep you in touch with your surroundings.

The sound signature of the Sudio Tre Wireless earphone is actually quite good with all things considered. The bass is full and present in the overall mix while the mids and highs reamain intact throughout the 20Hz to 18kHz range. The sound pressure level is strong (rated at 103dB) but with the “transparent” audio design there’s little chance you can turn it up too loud. You might lose a little sound quality and volume overall because of the because of the transparent design but it’s the price you pay for being safe during your everyday workout or commute.

Final Review

Overall I like the design and quality build of the Sudio Tre Wireless earphone. The sound is actually pretty good and it functions exactly like it should. The fit of these earphones is not what I usually prefer but I know there’s quite a few people that will love this durable, stylish, wireless in-ear headphone. If you’re the kind of person that doesn’t like tips that go into the inner ear this headphone is for you. And if you are looking to be aware of your surroundings during your daily commute or workout I think you’re gonna find the Sudio Tre Wireless the perfect solution. MSRP on the Tre Wireless is just under $100 so you can’t beat it for the price.
