Erato’s first set of independent earphones, the Apollo 7, fared well. The Bluetooth-based buds completed their Kickstarter campaign well over their initial goal of $88,888 withtotal of $500,846. The Apollo 7 also went on to win multiple accolades to include the Honorable Mention Red Dot Award for Design, Mashable’s Choice Award, Digital Trends’ Recommended Product badge of approval. However, the company listened to the reviews of their customer base and have now tweaked Apollo 7 to become a better version named Muse 5.

Targeting the issue of an effective seal around the ear canal, Muse 5 is fitted with a FitSeal silicone sleeve to improve sound isolation and better secure the earbuds in your ears. The patented technology is designed to fit most ears and ear canals. Unlike traditional earphones which offer only three sizes, the Muse 5 can be customized into nine different combinations. Erato writes, “Whether you have a small ear canal and large conch area or a large canal and smaller conch area, we have a solution for you.”

The FitSeal sleeve works in two parts, with the silicone ear tips fitting securely in the ear canal and the sleeve slipping securely into the ear conch area to create a quality seal. “With the FitSeal sleeves in place, the sleeve only needs to grab on to 2-3 corners of the ear and the silicon will hold the earbud in place without falling out, even in extreme conditions,” Erato adds.

The new buds are further optimized with ERATOSURROUND to create a deeper soundstage than is offered with most earbuds. ERATOSURROUND does so by restoring spatial recreation through digital processing. The sound is calibrated with a micro-driver and an acoustic chamber which reduces sound image distortion.

The life span of Muse 5 is 4 hours off of one charge. A portable charging case is included which holds an additional three charges. These truly wireless earbuds are available in silver, pink, blue, and black for $99 on Indiegogo. Erato Audio Muse 5 earbuds will ship to backers in December 2016.
