Look & Feel

If you’re familiar with the lavish design of FlipEars products, the Arion feels right at home with the rest of their selection. It’s no surprise that the Arion is handcrafted by master jewelers, because that’s the impression the faceplates give off. If you’re into horses, you’re not going to want to miss this one. It’s a work of art that surprisingly doesn’t look unwieldy as something to put into your ears. The Arion has an ergonomic shape that sits well in my ears, its cavity fitting nicely in my concha. It offers great isolation, and I had no issue wearing them for a couple of hours.

Design

At the core of the design is the EarQuake bone conductor for powerful, tactile low-end resonance, paired with a custom-developed 10 mm Arion carbon diaphragm dynamic driver that enhances bass depth and energy. High frequencies are handled by a Spark v2 electret tweeter, providing extended clarity and crisp highs, while three proprietary FlipEars balanced armature drivers focus on lush, expressive midrange performance. You should be able to power these IEMs with any DAC dongle like the iFi Go Link Max or Fiio QX13.

Soundstage

The Airon projects an immersive soundstage that is large and engulfing. Everything is displayed with an enriching width that spans toward the far ends of the left and right channels. As far as headspace goes, the Arion feels big but not in a golographic way. The spatial imaging is presented like true stereo while featuring a large surface area that allows individual instruments to appear tall in the mix. Positioning feels specific and accurate enough to localize them easily. There’s depth to each layer of sound that stacks up to each other with good separation. It’s like the soundstage is pushing everything forward to make the sound elements feel like they’re being performed in front of you rather than directly from the drivers. Sometimes, more ambient elements of tracks can wrap around you, but the display keeps to a non-linear stereo field that isn’t airy. It’s a refined sonic environment that stays true to each track’s spatial capabilities.

Low End

FlipEars IEMs know how to deliver a full bass with tons of vigor. The Arion is no different, with a hefty, refined low-end tone that is full of texture. There’s a high definition to bass notes, adding to the overall rich clarity that the Arion provides. It makes a significant impression on you, with its aggressive vibrations and sub-bass rumble that gives the bass a dominating concentration of tone. This creates a low end with a distinct shape and body, but is still tuned in a way that balances nicely with the rest of the sound signature. Nothing ever gets out of control, as the frequency content never fogs up the low mids in any noticeable way. This maintains the Arion’s fun factor while not being the only spotlight of the sound profile.

Mids

The midrange frequencies are given tons of space to showcase energetic, detailed instruments. Arrangements are clear and distinctive, as the midrange exhibits a high level of dynamism and grace. Each sound appears full and with a resolving timbre that gives the mids a lush presentation. Transients are smooth, but the notes still have an authority to them as they strike down with an articulate presence. Vocals are elevated over the instruments, offering commanding performances that are emotive and lively.

Highs

The Arion keeps up the energy in the treble, offering a bright tone that supplies character in place of harshness. The high frequencies are not afraid to be a bit spicy, but the Arion keeps it flavorful, with light sparkle and shimmer that slightly glistens. It also adds good height to the sound signature, elevating the overall clarity of the highs to have their own definitive personality. There’s a slight roll off that doesn’t quite allow the upper-highs to ring out, but the tighter concentration of treble allows for a more forgiving resposne that still allows for the highs to achieve a steady drive.

Summary

The FlipEars Arion stands out as a confident fusion of craftsmanship and sonic ambition. Its jewel-like faceplates and ergonomic shell design make it feel as premium in the hand as it does in the ear, while long-session comfort and strong isolation reinforce its practicality as a daily high-end listen. Sonically, the Arion delivers a commanding presentation: a textured, visceral low end driven by bone conduction, a lush and expressive midrange, and an energetic yet controlled treble that adds excitement without tipping into fatigue. The expansive, forward-pushing soundstage ties everything together, giving music a sense of scale and presence that feels engaging rather than artificial. For listeners seeking a luxury IEM with a bold personality, physical bass impact, and refined technical performance, the FlipEars Arion earns its place as a standout option in the flagship in-ear market.
