iFi Audio Launches NEO Stream 3 and ZEN Stream 3: Next-Generation High-Resolution Network Streamers

iFi Audio has officially announced the NEO Stream 3 and ZEN Stream 3, ushering in the next generation of its high-resolution network streaming platform. Building on the runaway success of the original models, these updated streamers introduce upgraded hardware, refined software, enhanced connectivity, and the return of advanced technologies like K2HD restoration.

With support for ultra-resolution PCM and DSD playback, Qobuz Connect integration, improved power circuitry, and advanced noise reduction systems, the NEO Stream 3 and ZEN Stream 3 aim to modernize any hi-fi system, whether you’re looking for an all-in-one solution or a pure streaming transport.

Built to Sound Better: Hardware Refinements Across the Board

The development of the NEO Stream 3 and ZEN Stream 3 began at the component level. iFi Audio has upgraded the internal power circuitry with polymer capacitors and ELNA Silmic II capacitors, designed to deliver cleaner, low-noise power and a smoother treble response.

Both streamers incorporate:

  • Refined low-noise power architecture
  • ELNA Silmic II capacitors for enhanced refinement
  • Exclusive Modes that disable unused processes to reduce signal noise
  • iPurifier2 technology on S/PDIF outputs
  • Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on USB ports

These refinements aim to ensure that digital audio sent to an external DAC, or converted internally in the case of the NEO, remains bit-perfect and free from interference.

The NEO Stream 3 further distinguishes itself by the return of the OptiBox optical isolation system, which galvanically isolates the wired network input, eliminating network-induced noise before it reaches the audio circuitry.

Next-Generation Network Streaming Engine

Both the NEO Stream 3 and ZEN Stream 3 feature iFi’s latest ultra-resolution streaming engine. Key streaming platform support includes:

  • Qobuz Connect
  • Tidal Connect
  • Spotify Connect
  • AirPlay 2
  • Web radio and network playback

This upgraded platform improves stability, enhances web radio performance, and provides deeper customization via a refined web-based interface and compatibility with the iFi Nexis app.

Resolution Support

NEO Stream 3

  • Up to 768kHz PCM
  • Native DSD512 support

ZEN Stream 3

  • Up to 384kHz PCM
  • Native DSD256 support

The NEO Stream 3 is positioned as a fully modernized digital hub, while the ZEN Stream 3 serves as a premium streaming transport for existing DAC owners.

Studio-Grade Restoration with K2 and K2HD Technology

One of the headline features of the new generation is the integration of JVCKENWOOD’s K2 and K2HD technology.

K2 processing restores harmonic information often lost during digital production or compression. Users can select:

  • K2 Mode: Preserves original resolution while restoring harmonic content
  • K2HD Mode (NEO Stream 3): Upscales PCM audio below 192kHz to 192kHz/24-bit

Developed by JVC engineers through meticulous analysis of analog masters, K2HD processing aims to bring warmth, nuance, and depth back to digital recordings. Crucially, this technology now benefits any DAC connected to either streamer—no longer limited to select iFi DAC models.

NEO Stream 3: Just Add Speakers

The NEO Stream 3 is designed as a complete digital audio solution. At its core is a DAC stage derived from the acclaimed NEO iDSD 2, built around a Burr-Brown chipset selected for its natural tonality and musical detail.

Key advantages include:

  • Integrated DAC and streamer in one chassis
  • Separate signal paths for PCM and DSD
  • Bit-perfect processing to analogue conversion
  • 384kHz PCM and DSD512 playback

This architecture makes the NEO Stream 3 ideal for listeners who want a streamlined, high-end system without adding multiple boxes to their rack.

ZEN Stream 3: Connect Your Hi-Fi to Wi-Fi

The ZEN Stream 3 takes a more focused approach. Designed for enthusiasts who already own a dedicated DAC, it operates as a high-performance streaming transport.

By removing the internal DAC stage, iFi Audio ensures that resources are dedicated entirely to network streaming performance. The ZEN Stream 3 offers:

  • 384kHz PCM and DSD256 support
  • Integrated iPurifier and ANC noise reduction
  • Upgraded power circuitry
  • Seamless integration with NAS drives and external storage

This makes it an accessible, premium upgrade for anyone looking to add high-resolution streaming to an existing digital setup.

Improved User Experience with IoT Hardware

Both models incorporate iFi’s new IoT hardware platform for faster setup and easier updates. Firmware can be managed through:

  • Web-based interface
  • iFi Nexis app

This ensures smoother installation, simplified configuration, and ongoing performance improvements through future updates.

The new iFi Audio streamers are available now for pre-order:
