Kannon Headphones: Deep Bass You Can Feel
Designed with audiophile sound quality in mind, the Kannon headphones are meant for sound waves to not only be heard, but felt throughout the body with through sound vibrations. As the makers Taction Technology write, “the lowest frequencies – 60Hz and below – are diminished and frequently missing entirely in conventional headphones.  Even with the best audio drivers that may reproduce sound down to 30 Hz, there still seems to be something missing.”
Their fix is to make sure you feel deeper bass lines. They do so by employing a unique haptic driver that accurately delivers low frequency audio through vibrations. Each earcup in the new Taction Kannon headset hold both a traditional driver and a haptic driver. This allows for the traditional driver to draw out the treble and mid tones in addition to the standard lows and highs, while the haptic driver reaches the deepest of bass lines. That being said, these headphones reach a frequency response range of 10-30,000 Hertz. Most headphones resonate between 20-20,000 Hertz.
Taction Technology promises that their use of a haptic driver has been re-imagined and applied to work efficiently, unlike attempts of other companies in the past. The company explains:
Unlike prior market attempts at haptic audio technology, the Kannon drivers move parallel to the side of the head: the new design is planar, older designs axial. This innovation is critical because it leaves the volume of air in the ear cup unchanged, preserving the fidelity of the audio coming from the traditional driver. In addition, some nifty engineering advances allowed the team to generate 20 times more power than the few haptic drivers in the market can muster.Â
Kannon headphones fare made of a hard-grade durable frame featuring plush leather ear cushions designed to provide stellar passive sound isolation. The deep bass headphones can be purchased at TactionTechnology.com for $389. They ship in November 2016.
