Native Instruments Launches LCO Producer Strings for Kontakt

Native Instruments has announced the release of LCO Producer Strings, a powerful new Kontakt instrument that brings the bold and experimental sound of the London Contemporary Orchestra (LCO) into the hands of producers, composers, and creators worldwide.

The LCO is renowned for its fearless approach to orchestral music, having scored acclaimed films like Deadpool & Wolverine and collaborated with artists such as Radiohead, Frank Ocean, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd. Now, their signature style can be accessed by anyone, from bedroom producers to professional film composers.

Modern, Gritty, and Emotional String Textures

Recorded at London’s legendary RAK Studios with acclaimed engineer Fiona Cruickshank, LCO Producer Strings delivers raw, modern, and emotive string textures. Unlike traditional orchestral libraries, this Kontakt instrument emphasizes gritty, glitchy, and avant-garde tones, perfect for contemporary genres as well as cinematic scoring.

Key features include:

  • Authentic LCO sound – A curated sample library capturing the orchestra’s distinctive experimental style.

  • Modern articulations – Techniques like cluster blooms, harmonic flickers, cascading runs, and percussive pizzicatos.

  • 4-layer engine – Stack violins, violas, cellos, and synth layers to create evolving, kaleidoscopic textures.

  • Hybrid sound sources – Blend acoustic strings with evolving synth beds and granular textures.

  • Seamless workflow – Fully optimized for Kontakt 8 and Native Kontrol Standard (NKS) for expressive control.

A Collaboration That Redefines Orchestral Sound

According to Tim Adnitt, VP of Product Management at Native Instruments:

“LCO Producer Strings makes the unique and striking sound of the London Contemporary Orchestra available to everyone. The world-class musicians, studio, engineer, sampling techniques, and intuitive instrument engine combine to give producers and songwriters the freedom to craft strings that are as bold and unconventional as their ideas.”

Hugh Tieppo-Brunt, co-Artistic Director & co-Principal Conductor of the LCO, added:

“For us, it’s about reimagining what an orchestra can be. This collaboration lets us capture the raw, experimental spirit of the LCO and place it directly in the hands of artists and producers, opening new possibilities for how strings can shape modern music.”

Expanding Creative Possibilities

With its blend of acoustic and electronic textures, LCO Producer Strings offers a forward-thinking approach to orchestral sound design. Whether used for pop production, ambient music, or film scoring, it allows artists to create strings that feel both organic and futuristic.

Best of all, the instrument puts the LCO’s boundary-breaking sound within reach of any studio setup, no blockbuster budget required.

LCO Producer Strings is available now for Kontakt 8 for $99. You can find more here.
