Nuheara IQbuds Selective Noise Cancelling Earbuds
The Nuheara IQbuds are Bluetooth capable headphones designed for the wearer to truly customize their listening experience while on the go. Street noise, road traffic, chatter in a room, and the like can be totally removed from your listening. However, if the wearer moves their head in another direction the buds will alter the auditory experience to receive the signal from the new direction.
The Nuheara IQbuds were developed by Curtin University researchers and their industry partners Nuheara in Australia. Computing Professor Kevin Fynn of Curtin says the “ultimate aim is [to] develop IQbuds into a device that incorporates the technology into a virtual reality experience,” writes Science Network Western Australia.
“This means when you move your head audio of the wearers desire is streamed directly into the 3D virtual world,” he adds.
Researchers also hope to transform the market for hearing aids.
Project team leader Professor Sven Nordholm says they “especially expect the device will be beneficial to people with the beginnings of hearing loss.”
Nordholm also says the team’s work is at the forefront of research in the audio technology area, because the science is understanding how you perceive the environment around you.
That being said, how do the Nuheara IQbuds sound? Nuheara is promising stereo sound audio. The noise cancelling earbuds will be able to stream everything from podcasts to music.
Of course, the buds can also be used to answer calls, hands-free, as well as cancel noise and amplify speech. The buds are said to sit quite comfortable in the ears, if this is true, pair that with the ability to maintain spatial awareness and these sound like a great fit for the weekend warrior whether working out in the gym or running through the city.
