ThinkEar Headphones Control Sound Using Brainwaves

ThinkEar Headphones Neste

We’ve heard of headphones that make you relax (Melomind) or the headphones that tune to your individual hearing profile (Nura), but never headphones that control sound using your brainwaves. Meet Neste ThinkEar headphones.

ThinkEar Headphones Control Sound Using Brainwaves

The headphones will act as many of the other brain-connected headphones, using an electroencephalogram. ThinkEar will use five EEG sensors located around the headphones to read your brain waves. These brainwaves will then be transmitted into a microchip. That microchip will then read and transmit the waves into a series of different commands. Dope!

ThinkEar will also be able to translate language in real-time and give you directions. From someone who gets lost a lot I can say I’m definitely in need of real-time GPS mapping headphones.

Anyway, I imagine the headphones would also use a companion app to communicate with smart devices and provide you with details of your EEG readings.

As cool as it all sounds, the truth is that ThinkEar headphones are merely an idea, rather than a prototype. But ThinkEar could soon become a reality. ThinkEar headphones are part of the “Pre-Order the Future” initiative proposed by Neste. They ask users to vote on various products from five different categories. ThinkEar headphones are part of the “Future of Entertainment” group.

The winning project will be announced in October and then made into a working prototype.
