iPhone 8 Wireless Charging, OLED Display, New Name?

iPhone 8 Updates Rumors

The iPhone 7 was so two months ago. It is now the first day of November and there are a slew of new (and plausible) updates about the iPhone 8. Here’s everything we know.

iPhone 8 Wireless Charging, OLED Display, New Name?

It is no secret as the launch of a new Apple product comes upon us, some of us are super anxious and already thinking ahead to the next model. With iPhone 7 having launched in September, the emerging chatter about iPhone 8 was all too imminent. That being said, it appears the iPhone 8 is going to be an all-new iPhone all together, with features better equipped to handle your jack-less MacBook Pro and more.

First off, the iPhone 8 is set to be released on its 10th anniversary. This has many thinking Apple will be looking towards a major, yet exciting, overhaul on their popular cellphone. This could include a complete name change, some speculate…i.e. the internet.

However, changes that do seem more concrete when it comes to iPhone 8 include an upgrade to the screen. According to Sharp, a Japanese electronic supplier for Apple, the Cupertino-based company is in-deed switching to OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display. “The iPhone has been evolving and now it is switching from LTPS (low-temperature poly-silicon) to OLED panels,” said Sharp president Jeng-wu said to Nikkei Asian Review. “We don’t know whether Apple’s OLED iPhones will be a hit, but if Apple doesn’t walk down this path and transform itself, there will be no innovation.”

This OLED display means the iPhone, or whatever it is going to be called, will possibly feature a curved screen with more brilliant colors and better battery life.

In addition, the new cell could include wireless charging. As advised by Nikkei, Foxconn, the owner of Sharp, is reportedly testing wireless charging mounts that could appear with the iPhone 8. Cool! This would take care of the entire I-can’t-charge-my-phone-and-listen-to-music debacle so everyone wins!

I don’t know about you, but I haven’t purchased the iPhone 7 yet and based on these speculations I probably won’t. iPhone 8 anyone?
