We often wear headphones to turn the world out, but sometimes it’d be nice to turn the world off. That being said, meet Isolate Titanium earplugs.
Meet Isolate Titanium Earplugs
These earplugs are dedicated to muting all noises – office chatter, low rumbles, and more than the reach of standard earplugs. Flare Audio, the company behind Isolate, found that plastics and foams were lowering the volume, but wasn’t completely muting the noise. In fact, these materials aren’t very effective in muting lower frequencies at all.
Titanium on the other hand can. Isolate earplugs are effective and comfortable by featuring foam tips on the end of the titanium and aluminum metal plugs. Isolate is said to have perfect sound isolation for sleeping, traveling, concerts and clubs, extreme sports, and work.
There are two types of metal earplugs offered by Flare Audio. Isolate uses Solid Aerospace Aluminium which weighs in at 1.76 g with the following dimensions 17.5 mm long and 8.5 mm diameter. Isolate Pro is made of Solid Titanium Grade 5 and weighs in 2.86 g with the following dimensions 17.5 mm long and 8.5 mm diameter. These earplugs are also available in a number of different colors to match with any ensemble.
Flare’s founder, Davies Roberts, considered solid metal as a better material to isolate noise, although metal has been overlooked due to its sound conducting properties. With research, Roberts found metal only conducted sound when there’s a direct connection.
“When you isolate a small piece of metal or dense material in soft foam inside your ear, sound waves can’t penetrate from the flexible medium of air and it becomes the perfect isolator. Understanding this principle is what inspired us to develop the perfect ear plug. We want to revolutionize hearing protection!”
Isolate Titanium Earplugs are available for purchase via Kickstarter stating at $31 USD for one aluminum set and $61 USD for the titanium set. There are other earplug options for those interested in buying more than one pair of earplugs. Isolate is expected to ship in September 2016.
