The system in place is called Pure Digital Drive. Unlike other headphones, this over-ear model is promising to deliver the clearest of audio because it’s skipping digital-to-analog conversion and sending the signal straight from your audio source to the drivers. So, when you really think about it… after working tirelessly to create this clean listening experience why would Audio-Technica include a standard aux cable? Also, as an FYI,  don’t expect to use an adapter to the USB cable and then plug it intop your smart device. IT won’t work since the headphone draws too much power, according to an error message I received.
