Beyerdynamic has expanded its gaming lineup with the MMX 100 Wireless and MMX 130 Wireless. Designed for core gamers and newcomers seeking an accessible upgrade, the two headsets combine the manufacturer’s studio-audio experience with versatile connectivity, replaceable components, and more than 80 hours of battery life. Although the models share many features, they offer distinctly different listening experiences. The MMX 100 Wireless uses a closed-back design to improve isolation, while the open-back MMX 130 Wireless focuses on producing a wider and more natural soundstage.
MMX 100 Wireless Offers a Focused, Closed-Back Design
The beyerdynamic MMX 100 Wireless is designed for gamers who want to reduce surrounding distractions and limit sound leakage. Its closed-back earcups provide a more isolated presentation, making the headset suitable for shared rooms, LAN environments, and competitive multiplayer sessions. By keeping more external noise out, the MMX 100 Wireless aims to make positional cues and team communication easier to follow in busy environments. Its focused presentation should also benefit players who prefer a more intimate and controlled listening experience.
MMX 130 Wireless Delivers an Open, Spacious Soundstage
For players who prioritize immersion and spatial openness, the MMX 130 Wireless takes an open-back approach. Its design creates a wider, airier soundstage that allows environmental effects, dialogue, and atmospheric details to sound more expansive. The open construction also provides greater awareness of sounds in the room. This makes the MMX 130 Wireless best suited to quieter gaming spaces where isolation is less important. Its spacious presentation is intended for cinematic adventures, narrative-driven games, and other titles that benefit from a natural sense of scale.
40mm Drivers and META VOICE Microphone
Both new beyerdynamic gaming headsets feature precisely tuned 40mm drivers developed to reproduce positional information and voices accurately. The MMX 130 Wireless adds a titanium coating to its driver, which is intended to enhance its acoustic performance. A detachable META VOICE microphone handles in-game communication. According to beyerdynamic, the microphone is tuned to produce clear and natural voice reproduction. Players can remove it when using either headset for music, streaming, travel, or everyday listening.
Triple Wireless Connectivity With Low-Latency Audio
The MMX 100 Wireless and MMX 130 Wireless support three connection methods:
- Bluetooth 6.0
- Low-latency USB-C wireless dongle
- USB-C-to-3.5mm analog cable
Latency through the included USB-C dongle is rated at less than 30 milliseconds. Both headsets can connect to PCs, consoles, smartphones, and handheld gaming systems, giving users the flexibility to move between different devices. The accompanying beyerdynamic app provides additional control over EQ, automatic shutdown, voice-assistant functions, and voice-prompt settings.
More Than 80 Hours of Battery Life
Both MMX models offer more than 80 hours of battery life on a full charge. That capacity should allow most players to complete multiple extended gaming sessions before needing to recharge. Importantly, the battery is replaceable. This approach could extend the usable life of each headset rather than requiring the entire product to be replaced once its original battery begins to deteriorate.
Replaceable Parts and Travel-Friendly Construction
Beyerdynamic has equipped both gaming headsets with soft velour ear pads, aluminum sliders, and stainless-steel hinges. The ear pads attach magnetically, allowing them to be removed and replaced without tools. The headband pads are also replaceable. Both models fold flat for easier storage and transportation. Together with the replaceable battery and pads, these design choices reflect beyerdynamic’s focus on long-term durability and repairability. The MMX 100 Wireless and MMX 130 Wireless will each be offered in Black and Arctic White.
