Grado Labs has announced the Signature S150, a new pair of open-back headphones that brings technology from its higher-end models to the most accessible price point in its expanding Signature Line. Priced at $295, the S150 combines a newly developed 44mm dynamic driver with detachable cables, an updated headband assembly, and a redesigned single-piece housing. The Grado Signature S150 is available for pre-order, with shipping expected to begin in early November 2026.
New 44mm S Driver Borrows From Grado’s Higher-End Headphones
The Signature S150 marks the debut of Grado’s 44mm S driver, featuring a paper-composite diaphragm based on technology used in the larger 52mm S drivers found in the HP100 SE and S950. Grado developed this version specifically for the smaller driver format, drawing on its ongoing work with diaphragm materials and magnetic design.
According to Grado, the goal is to deliver clarity and fine detail while preserving the body and musical character of a performance. The company also emphasizes clean, articulate bass with a satisfying sense of presence, aiming for a balanced presentation that reveals quieter details without sounding thin. As with other Grado headphones, the final tuning combines engineering development with extensive listening and adjustment. These sound characteristics remain the company’s claims ahead of independent listening impressions.
Detachable Signature Bronze Cables Included
The S150 includes Grado’s new Signature Bronze detachable cable, which uses a lighter, softer, and more flexible construction intended to improve everyday handling and comfort. Dual 3.5mm connections at the headphone housings allow users to adjust cable orientation. At the source end, the standard cable terminates in a 3.5mm plug and includes a 6.3mm adapter for use with compatible headphone amplifiers, portable players, and home audio equipment. Grado also says the S150 can be ordered with alternative cable terminations, allowing buyers to choose a connection suited to their setup.
A Lightweight Build With an Updated Leather Headband
Weighing 220 grams, the Signature S150 pairs its lightweight construction with Grado’s new Signature headband assembly. A padded leather strap distributes weight across the head, while an internal flexible steel band allows listeners to adjust inward tension for a more personalized fit.
The assembly features redesigned matte-black polymer gimbals, stainless-steel height rods, and reinforced junction blocks. These components are intended to improve stability, adjustment, and durability. Controlled housing rotation limits excess movement while retaining flexibility for positioning the earcups. The new Signature headband assembly will also be available separately for owners of compatible earlier Grado headphones.
F Cushions and a New Single-Piece Housing
Grado supplies the S150 with its F cushions, selected as part of the headphone’s acoustic tuning. Internal acoustic slits promote airflow and contribute to the intended open, detailed presentation. The S150 is also compatible with Grado’s complete range of headphone cushions, giving listeners options to adjust comfort and explore how different pads affect the sound.
Visually, the headphones retain Grado’s recognizable appearance while introducing a new single-piece acoustic chamber body. Molded from engineered ABS polymer, the housing is designed to combine low weight, durability, and consistent dimensions. A matte-black finish gives the familiar shape an understated, contemporary update.
