Audeze and Schiit Audio Collaborate on Limited Edition LCD-R Headphones and Jotunheim-A Amplifier Set

Audeze LCD R Schiit Jotunheim

Audeze and Schiit have announced the limited edition release of the LCD-R and Jotunheim-A, with only 67 sets available. Each set, which includes both the headphones and the amplifier, comes in at $2,500. Audeze says that after seeing Schiit’s Jotunheim-A current-drive headphone amplifier, they were inspired to create the LCD-R. With an impedance of only 2 ohms, Audeze says the LCD-R driver is a Ribbon, not a Planar. There will be two versions released, one at 115V, which is available now, and one at 230V, which will begin shipping July 26th.

The Jotunheim model A is custom made by Schiit, and is meant to be the perfect pairing with the LCD-R’s extremely low impedance. Audeze says the LCD-R is meant to be used exclusively with the model A, and should not be used with any other amplifiers.

While the LCD-R mainly follow the same style as most of Audeze’s other LCD headphones, it has unique ear cups made of Lichtenberg Fractal wood rings, which are created by using high voltage electricity to enhance the Maple’s patterns.

These sets will be first come, first serve, and the headphones cannot be brought separately. The package includes the headphones, amplifier, premium braided cable, and an economy travel case.
