A key chipset upgrade for Shawline HDMI brings 48 Gbps performance for AV lovers, gamers and more
Chord Company has upgraded one of its best-loved HDMI cables, Shawline HDMI, to 48 Gbps performance, giving super-fast transfer rates from advanced HDMI chipsets. The new Shawline HDMI AOC 21(Active Optical Cable) uses a high-quality True HDMI chipset at both ends, plus the highest OM3-grade glass fibres. In addition to full 4/8K HDR picture quality, the premium high-speed Shawline HDMI AOC 21 benefits from the improved audio performance of optical fibre, and is immune to HF noise.
Shawline HDMI AOC 21 is Chord Company’s second-highest-performance HDMI cable and is an optical/copper hybrid with extensive high-frequency noise protection. The copper elements have been uprated for improved mechanical isolation, but the most noticeable difference is the advanced HDMI chipsets.
Shawline HDMI AOC 21 is capable of full 8K performance at 60 Hz or 4K at 120 Hz, providing peace of mind for upcoming 8K content, plus a welcome degree of future-proofing. Available in 1 m, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m, 8m, 10 m, 15 m and 20 m standard lengths. Custom lengths of up to 50 m are available by special order.
Doug Maxwell, Chord Company’s Sales Director said, “Our Shawline range has proven to be immensely popular with our customers, sitting as it does in the middle of our range portfolio, offering a near-perfect blend of price to performance. I’m delighted, therefore, to be upping the performance of the Shawline HDMI AOC 21 cable and giving AV lovers even greater performance from their investment in our handmade cables.”
About Chord Company’s HDMI cables

About Chord Company HDMI AOC (Active Optical Cables)
For several years, Chord Company has been exploring optical technology to deliver the full performance capabilities of today’s players, processors, consoles and screens.
Unlike TOSLINK cables, where the entire signal is carried down optical fibres, HDMI AOC cable is an advanced hybrid of seven copper cables and four optical fibres. The advantage of optical fibre is that it doesn’t pick up HF noise, unlike copper. This potential weakness, coupled with the longer cable lengths involved, means that HF noise on the signal earth is inevitable.
Even though this is a digital ‘optical’ cable, Chord Company’s engineers have to ensure that the copper elements are fully protected from external HF noise pollution. Therefore, beneath the external PVC jacket, the company has incorporated a double aluminium foil shielding system for even greater performance.
