Headband

Both the Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT and the JBL E65BTNC have plastic headphones with metal extenders. One major difference is that the JBL E65BTNC’s headband is thicker and coated in cloth. On the other hand, the ATH-ANC700BT is a bit thinner and just as one small bit of padding along the top which is coated in pleather.

Additionally, the JBL E65BTNC squeezes the head a bit tighter than the Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT. As a result, the ANC700BT feels more comfortable, while the E65BTNC feels a bit more secure.

Features

Bluetooth

Both the Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT and the JBL E65BTNC have great Bluetooth range. They both work well over 30 feet even without line of sight. Additionally, both connect via Bluetooth version 4.1.

Noise Cancellation

Both the headphones’ noise cancellation feel a bit different from each other. The JBL E65BTNC seems to be a little bit stronger, although that might also be due to its proficient sound isolation. Both do a great job of cancelling low frequency information which makes me think they’d be great for wearing on airplanes.

Microphone

After doing a quick recording using both microphones, it was clear that the JBL E65BTNC sounded clearer than the Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT.

Sound

The low frequencies and low-mid frequencies of the JBL E65BTNC are accented a lot. This will make folks who like a lot of bass happy. However the Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT, which still has a robust bass response, is clearer sounding and has a more vivid midrange. Additionally, the ANC700BT is brighter, so cymbals sound louder and have more separation than the E65BTNC. Lastly, vocals are a bit higher in the mix than the E65BTNC.

Overview

Both headphones are really good and affordable wireless noise cancelling headphones. If you are the type of person who likes more bass in your music, you would probably prefer the JBL E65BTNC. If you are the type of person who prefers more clarity, you’ll like the Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT.
