Beyerdynamic has announced its next major headphone models for 2020, The T1 and T5. These two models back to back may appear the same, but they both have one major difference that’ll affect your purchasing decision.
The T1 is an open-back over-ear high-end headphone, while the T5 is closed-back, but they both use Tesla drivers to ensure a precise and spatial sound signature.
The T1 and T5 feature a double-sided detachable cable made from ultra-high-purity OCC7N copper and covered with fabric. The T1 will be 3m and the T5 will be 1.4m. They both have replaceable earpads with the T1 featuring breathable velour earpads, while the T5s is made from protein-coated leatherette. Both sound like they’ll be extremely comfortable to wear.
The new T5 marks a new milestone in Beyerdynamic’s flagship model. The third-generation T5 achieves better, more natural reproduction of high mid-range frequencies. This means the sound signature is even more realistic. They sport finely brushed, lacquered aluminium housing covers and the yokes use brushed aluminium as well, which has additionally been anodised.
The T1 has a gently intensified bass to give the very neutral, spatial sound signature even more warmth. The housing covers are made from lacquered stainless steel and the yokes use brushed and anodised aluminium for a particularly striking surface structure.
