New Bose SoundSport Free Truly Wireless Earbuds to Rival Apple AirPods

It was only a matter of time before leading global audio solutions company Bose got in on the truly wireless game. Bose SoundSport Free earbuds are the newest competitors on the market touting a life span to rival the reigning champ, Apple AirPods.

Bose SoundSport Free Truly Wireless Earbuds to Rival Apple AirPods

SoundSport Free looks to be a fair competitor to Apple AirPods – possibly edging them out thanks to a durable frame and boatload of features specifically engineered for fitness fanatics. The pair of completely cable-free earbuds are modeled after Bose’s SoundSport Wireless earphones, showcasing a similar earbud housing designed with StayHear+ Sports hookss for added security. The buds are also quite small, measuring 1.1″ high by 1.2″ deep weighing 0.35 ounces.

As for water resistance, Bose SoundSport Free ranks at an IP water resistance rating of IPX4, meaning the Bluetooth-based sports buds can withstand splashing water, but steer clearing of taking a dip in the pool with them.

When it comes to connectivity, Bose is promising a quality connection thanks to a new antennae system. Along with digital signal processing, Bose SoundSport Free is said to sustain a strong signal from sports buds to smart device regardless of placement (i.e. 30 feet away, back-pocket, purse, gym bag, or arm-band).

Bose SoundSport Free earphones are also built to provide the signature Bose sound, along with volume optimized EQ for optimal listening experience. Thanks to a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, these buds can deliver that sound for up to 5 hours (same as the Apple Airpods). They do ship with a rechargeable case, but it’ll only provide up to two additional charges. Admittedly, AirPods are able to achieve about 14 more hours of additional charge.

Probably taking after Apple, Bose has fixed their buds with a “Find My Buds” feature through the Bose Connect App. It’ll let users know the last date and location the buds were used.

The new SoundSport Free headphones will be available in early October for $249.95. Pre-orders can be made on Bose.com.
