Look & Feel

In terms of appearance, it is hard to beat the luxury style of Bowers and Wilkins products. The Amiron 300 makes a good effort for true wireless design though, with a sleek shell and two different color variants. Those familiar with Bowers and Wilkins will be familiar with the design of the Pi6, and will be immediately enthralled by any one of its color variants. However, I feel the Amiron 300 has a slightly better fit. It’s a more comfortable cavity, and its smaller housing is sure to be a benefit.

Design & Functionality

Both the Bowers and Wilkins Pi6 and the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 have touch sensors for their controls. The Amiron 300 has the best operation, offering responsive controls. Some of the touch gestures on the Pi6 can be quite finicky in my experience. They still have plenty of similarities though, like their noise canceling. The Amiron 300 and Pi6 use their ANC technology effectively, featuring similar amounts of isolation.

Bluetooth

The Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 is superior to the Bowers and Wilkins Pi6 in terms of Bluetooth capabilities. While the Pi6 features Bluetooth 5.4 compared to the Amiron’s 5.4, but the Amiron 300 offers LDAC and a multipoint connection

Battery Life

Both the Bowers and Wilkins Pi6 and the Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 have good charges for their price point. The Amiron 300 technically has a better battery life at 10 hours, but with ANC active, both earbuds are about the same in terms of total playtime.

Soundstage

Neither the Pi6 nor Amiron have the widest soundstage or the most spacious imaging. However, they both meet acceptable standards for the price. The Amiron 300 comes off as narrow but well-separated, while the Pi6 is linear but accurate. For true wireless, I tend to prefer separation, so the Amiron 300 won me over more than the Pi6. It shows the most organization of layers, compared to the congealed solidity of the Pi6.

Low End

If you like a dominant, bass-heavy sound signature, you’ll definitely prefer the Pi6. Its tone is much thicker than the Amiron 300, which has very limited frequency content. There’s much more weight to the Pi6, offering the punch you might expect from a good pair of true wireless earbuds. You still get a solid bass presence from the Amiron 300, but the response is not as impactful. It’s more relaxed and soft, which might also fit your tastes, but the Pi6 has a better chance of winning you over.

Mids

Where the Amiron 300 gets its due is its midrange clarity. There’s better detail on the Amiron 300 compared to the Pi6. Individual notes appear more physical, whereas the Pi6 is mostly comprised of a dominant warmth. The Pi6 has more recessed frequency ranges, but still maintains a surface level of clarity. With the Amiron 300, you get a much more even response, where all the sound elements get a more articulate presence in the sound signature.

Highs

Both the Amiron 300 and the Pi6 have unique flavors in their highs that will better inform what sound you might prefer. If you like more detail on your highs, with height and crispness to it, then you’ll prefer the Amiron 300. Those who like their treble to be smoother and easier to digest will probably prefer the Pi6.

Summary

Ultimately, both the Bowers & Wilkins Pi6 and Beyerdynamic Amiron 300 possess unique strengths that cater to different preferences in sound and functionality. While the Pi6 appeals to bass enthusiasts with its punchy low-end frequency response, the Amiron 300’s midrange clarity and high-end detail make it a compelling choice for those seeking a balanced and articulate audio experience. Whichever model you choose, rest assured that both provide exceptional sound quality, comfort, and style, making them worthy contenders in the premium true wireless earbuds market.
