HelloEar Arc: The World’s Most Comfortable Custom Earphones

It sounds incredibly easy and simple to do. After four years of studying various shapes of ears, HelloEar developed a shoe-fitting like approach to creating their custom-molded headphones.

As they’ve said via their Kickstarter campaign, “Arc is the manifest of four years of careful engineering, backed by the first-ever intensive study on the ergonomics of human ears. We have measured hundreds of thousands of ears, and made ear molds to examine the best ways to achieve comfort and custom fit. Every one of the ear molds was 3D scanned to extract every ear’s essential parameters. We were thrilled to discover that by extracting the five key human ear parameters, the perfect matching earbuds can be customized for your type of ears.”

Though no feet are the same, many people can often fit into the same pair comfortably (with roughly the same shoe size). The same concept has been applied to HelloEar Arc, hence the earphones’ interesting and unique housing units. The buds are comprised of a custom innovative airbag structure so it can flex and bend organically with the wearer’s ears as they move, like a shoe. The fit is said to be extremely comfortable, even with extended use. That is all thanks to the interesting look. HelloEar Arc exhibits an ergonomic “Z” shape which is inspired by the natural “S” shape of the ear. This allows the earphone to move as you move. The exterior is that of skin-friendly medical-grade silica gel which also allows the ears to better breathe.

Arc is fitted with high end balanced armature drivers, one in each housing unit, in addition to an internal acoustic chamber that ensures stable sound quality. It resonates over a frequency range of 20 to 20,000 Hertz and an impedance of 25 ohms. Additional specifications to note are the fact that it is wireless and supports an 8 hour battery life. It takes merely 2 hours to charge and comes equipped with an in-line mic and controller.

If interested in getting a pair of custom-molded buds for yourself, look to HelloEar Arc’s Kickstarter page where you can pledge $69 for a pair. Arc ships to backers in March 2017.
