Jaybird X3

Jaybird X3 is the third and latest iteration of Jaybird’s wireless in-ear buds and we’ve got all the details on whether you should upgrade.

Details On Jaybird X3 Wireless Bluetooth Headphones

First off, the Jaybird X3 boasts a slimmer frame than its predecessor. The earbud housing is smaller which makes for a better fit inside of your ears, as explained by CNET and WIRED. I’m led to believe the X3 is a bit more slender because the battery has been moved from inside the ear cup to a separate unit on the neck strap. This unit is actually a charging plate that gives the earbuds up to 8 hours of playtime and talk time on a full charge. Though, WIRED says they were able to get up to 10 hours of use. I’m not complaining! In addition, a quick 15 minute charge gets you one hour of use.

Like that of the X2, the Jaybird X3 includes a number of different ear tips and ergonomic ear fins. It is also sweat resistant for those super intense workouts. Drawing comparisons between the X3 and BOSE Sound Sport, CNET finds BOSE to be more comfortable, but the X3 as more discreet. In fact, the X3 can be worn comfortably with a helmet. So sport extremists these babies are for you! A few additional accessories include neckband clips to adjust the slack on your neckband to better suit your liking and a shirt clip that secures the neckband to your blouse for additional stabilization.

When it comes to sound, CNET advises these sportphones are one of the best wireless fitness buds in the market right now. This isn’t too hard to believe since the X2s were quite impressive on their own, providing detail and depth.

We have yet to hear the X3, but it seems like they are already better than the ill-received Jaybird Freedoms, which initially contained a defect of reversed ear pieces in some units. Following that debacle, users still complained that the headphones could barely survive a few miles during a workout with the buds constantly falling out. However, the Jaybird X3 looks to be a bit more promising.

The Jaybird X3 retails for $129.99 which is about $50 more affordable than the X2 when it was released. The X3 comes in green, red, black, and white.
