Meze Audio Manta Review

Meze Manta with Meze Empyrean II

Headphones are expensive. And even the fiercest of audiophiles and music listeners don’t listen 24/7. So what do you do with these expensive pieces of equipment when you’re not listening? Some probably put them in their cases. But others may want a sturdy and attractive stand to hold their high end headphones. Meze knows that their headphones are investments, and so they’ve crafted a stand worthy of the kit we put on them. The product is called Manta, and it’s a premium headphone stand that clocks in at $300. Is the stand worth the steep price? We’ll find out in this review.

What’s in the Box:

  • Base, stand, and leather headphone rest
  • Screws
  • Hex key

Meze Manta assembly

Assembly:

First things first, let’s walk through putting the Manta together. It comes in three parts: the base, the actual stand, and the headphone rest. The base and stand attach through a screw on the bottom. The Manta does not require any extra tools as there’s a hex key included in the box. Then using a nut and bolt (along with your hex key), you attach the leather headphone rest to the top. Just like that, you’ve got a premium headphone stand. I think it took me a total of two minutes to put the stand together (not to pat myself on the back).

Assembly isn’t always an expected step for equipment like this, but it’s nothing that even a novice couldn’t handle. Even with the home assembly, everything feels sturdy and high quality. I was impressed by the simplicity of the process.

Meze Manta Design

Design

The Manta is an aesthetic treat when it comes to design, but that shouldn’t be a surprise coming from Meze. Drawing inspiration from the graceful lines of marine life, the Manta’s form is sculpted to evoke the fluidity and elegance of ocean currents and coastal waves. Its sleek, statuesque silhouette reflects the harmony found in nature, creating a visually stunning piece that enhances any listening environment.

With these intentions in mind, Meze’s product offers a sight for sore eyes. But it’s not just pretty. There are also plenty of thoughtful features, like a folding fin for cable management, that adds a level of sophistication as well as practicality to the product.

Meze Manta Build

Build Quality

Meze crafted the Manta from premium materials, ensuring a robust structure that complements its striking design. Its body, made from precision-engineered cast zinc alloy, is finished with a durable matte black powder coating, providing a smooth yet resilient exterior. The headrest is reinforced with vegan leather, adding a touch of softness where the headphones rest, while maintaining the overall strength of the stand. Silicone pads are strategically placed at the base’s contact points to provide a secure grip and protect surfaces from scratches. This combination of high-grade materials and craftsmanship ensures that the Manta stand is as durable as it is beautiful.

Final Thoughts

The Manta is a formidable stand with robust build and appealing design. It’s not the most affordable headphone stand out there, but for headphones that cost top dollar, you may want to store them in a top notch manner. For that purpose, the Manta is a fantastic accessory for your high end headphones.
