Just arriving on my news desk, Campfire Audio has announced their new Solaris Limited Edition. This new limited earphone features a refreshed Solaris sound and a new faceplate from abalone. As such, the Solaris Limited Edition offers a new take on Campfire’s already-impressive flagship IEM.
New Campfire Audio Solaris Limited Edition
Pushing the envelope on in-ear sound, the new Solaris Limited Edition offers some new acoustic tech.
First and foremost, the Solaris LE features all-new 3D-printed ceramic acoustic chambers. This upgrade provides an enhanced sound unique to the Solaris Special Edition. Thanks to tweaked internal geometries, the soundstage now appears more expansive. Additionally, the vocal range performance registers slightly elevated. The new earphone further refines the original Solaris sound with increased emphasis on mids and highs.
This robust new sonic recipe for the Solaris Limited Edition begins with the drivers. Campfire uses 2 BA drivers plus T.A.E.C. for the highs. A single BA driver handles the mids. Lastly, a single 10 mm dynamic driver provides weight and body to the low end. This dynamic – a version of Campfire’s 10 mm A.D.L.C. dynamic driver, is optimized with the Polarity Tuned Chamber, and anchors the sonic performance. This results in a deeply engaging mid-frequency tonality and visceral bass response.
Hands-On Assembly
Appearance-wise, the Solaris Limited Edition ditches the gold of the original Solaris. Instead, this earphone features natural abalone shell inlays. Furthermore, each earpiece is hand-crafted in Portland, Oregon, ensuring a quality listening experience. The abalone inlays are also hand-matched, providing each earphone with a unique, one-of-a-kind appearance.
The Solaris Limited Edition comes accompanied by the ALO Audio Super Litz Cable. This cable features four large gauge conductors of Silver-plated Copper Litz wire. The wiring utilizes varying diameter stranding. Campfire recommends the Super Litz cable as the perfect balance of physical gauge and performance. Terminating in custom beryllium/copper MMCX connectors, the connection comes in the form of an over-molded 3.5mm plug. This cable brings out the best in Solaris Special Edition and omits memory wire for a more comfortable fit.
Also included with the Solaris Limited Edition, a premium signature black leather case provides ample protectior. A wide assortment of earphone tips, a cleaning tool, and our official Campfire Audio lapel pin round out the included accessories.
The Solaris Limited Edition retails for $1899 with production capped at 750 pieces worldwide.
