New MrSpeakers Ether 2 Announced

The Ether 2 replaces the aging Ether as the MrSpeakers flagship headphone.  Featuring an open-back, planar magnetic design, the Ether 2 will feature a new driver, motor, baffle, and headband.

The Ether 2 incorporates a motor centered around “TrueFlow Technology” as well as a driver with 70% less aluminum than that found on the original Ether.

Weighing in at 3.75 ounces lighter than the original Ether, the Ether 2 retains the metal construction of previous MrSpeakers headphones, while also making use of a carbon fiber baffle.

According to MrSpeakers:

“ETHER 2 is not only the lightest full size planar magnetic headphone on the market and it may be the lightest top-of-the-line headphone from any high-end vendor.”

A new all-metal headband rounds out the novel advances in design on the Ether 2, supplemented by a webbed headstrap.  Ergonomic earpads further accent the fully metal earcups.

The Ether 2 will include a VIVO cable.  This silver plated OFHC copper cable comes in 6’ and 10’ lengths.  VIVO cables also come in 1/4” and 4-pin XLR terminations, as well as portable-friendly 3.5’ 2.5, 3.5, and 4.4mm cable variants.

New MrSpeakers Ether 2 Announced

MrSpeakers released the original Ether almost two years ago, followed by an electrostatic VOCE headphone and more affordable Aeon headphones using the same tech found in the Ether.

The MrSpeakers Ether 2 will begin shipping later this month, with a $1999 price tag.
