The Best True Wireless Earbuds For 2022

Every year, new wireless earbuds come out and try to dominate the consumer audio market. This year we have seen releases from some mainline brands, and others from lesser-known names that rarely get the spotlight. There have been some great-sounding earbuds and ones that seek to add innovation. Here are a few you should be looking out for this holiday season.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3

Since its release earlier this year, Sennheiser’s new true wireless has been a juggernaut. It has become one of the best options for pure sound resolution, and its ANC capabilities have been vastly improved. New upgrades also include a sleek new design for better comfort and more responsive touch sensors.

Beyerdynamic Free Byrd

Sennheiser isn’t the only pro audio name to launch new wireless earbuds. Beyerdynamic is usually a great alternative to Sennheiser’s headphones, and now they’ve come to match them with new flagship earbuds. The Free Byrd sounds very similar to the Momentum 3 in its bass and instrumental clarity, relying on clean performance. You’ll get better battery life here though, clocking in 11 hours off a single charge.

Audio Technica ATH-TWX9

Another familiar pro audio brand launched a new wireless earbud. Audio-Technica is known everywhere for its various pieces of audio gear, and they’ve been no strangers to Bluetooth before. With the TWX9, Audio-Technica strengthens its wireless game considerably. It brings forth its best sound fidelity and noise-canceling on any of its wireless products, and the addition of 360 Reality Audio puts it further ahead in terms of value.

Sony WF-1000XM4

While it is surely heading toward the end of its lifecycle, the WF-1000XM4 is still a heavy hitter. Nearing the end of 2022, Sony’s mainline earbuds are still a popular option. They feature the best noise-canceling you can get on earbuds, with their industry-leading technology still at the forefront of adaptive ANC. Spatial audio options are also prevalent here, with 360 Reality Audio coming into play. The sound has some nice customization options too, with an in-app EQ offering a more personalized experience.

Final Audio ZE3000

A few years ago, Final Audio released the EVA 2020, which was an odd set of earbuds but didn’t lack good sound. Now, Final has released its own set of true wireless earbuds without any gimmicks. The ZE3000 is the purest and simple set of earbuds on this list. Its got a nice impact with a fair amount of clarity, and a good price as well. This is one of the best options if you’re on more of a budget and are just looking for a pair of earbuds that sound good.
