The Westone AM Pro 10, 20, 30 series allows performers to enjoy the full-range frequency response from their in-ear monitors as well as hear, feel, and engage with their audience like never before.
Westone AM Pro 10, 20, 30 Series
Ever see an artist on stage with an ear bud dangling from their shoulder? That artist has unplugged their monitor signal in one ear in an effort to hear the audience and venue while still receiving their monitor’s signal in the other ear. Some companies have tried to treat this issue by creating in-ear monitors with a vent. However, with this method performer’s often sacrifice the ability to hear lower frequencies. The Westone AM Pro 10, 20, 30 series aims to
create a resolution while still delivering stunning audio.
Developers have said the Westone AM Pro 10, 20, 30 series is intended to sound like the 10, 20, 30, and 50’s in the Universal Monitor Pro series – full and detailed sound, but with ambient noise.
The new range of passive in-ear monitors are designed using SLED technology. The Sonic Low Pressure Equalization Device allows for the performer to hear their ambient surroundings and their monitor’s signal without compromising the frequency response. When electrical signals are running through the headphones, the SLED technology will create a back pressure which in turn retains the lows.
As developer Karl Cartwright explained to Multitracks.com, the Ambient Monitor series operates like a teeter-totter. When the signal of the monitor is turned all the way up, the headphones will not allow for ambient noise. However, as the signal decreases, the amount of ambient noise will increase and vice versa. When a song ends, a full onslaught of applause, cheers, and other ambient noises will be received through the headphones.
There are three versions of the Westone AM Pros – the AM Pro 10, AM Pro 20, and AM Pro 30. The AM Pro 10 operates off of a single balanced armature driver. The AM Pro 20 uses a dual balanced armature driver and passive crossover to deliver extended response and detail while the AM Pro 30 uses a three-way crossover matched to individual low, mid, and high frequency drivers to give the wearer a smooth and balanced mix.
