FiiO is quickly becoming well-known for their IEMs across a broad range of prices. One of their newer models, the FA7s, makes use of several technological improvements on previous models in order to deliver a new level of quality. The FA7s comes in at $340, a pretty standard price for low-to-mid level IEMs. Let’s see what FiiO is able to accomplish with these.

Look and Feel
FiiO definitely has a consistent aesthetic with its IEM line. The FA7s is sleek, durable, and comfortable. Every aesthetic choice, from the material to the gold trim on the backplate, has an acoustic function that compliments it. The 316L Stainless steel housing looks great and gives it a good feeling of sturdiness and the peace of mind that accompanies it. The generous amount of eartips also ensures both your comfort and sound preferences are met.
Design
The FA7s is equipped with 6 BA drivers that utilize its unique triple crossover design to give maximum separation between frequency ranges. This, combined with its acoustically resonant housing, ensures that each part of the IEM works in tandem to deliver a smooth sound. This, combined with an impressively high number of customization options, make the FA7s a highly diverse IEM suited for any
The FiiO FA7s has a frequency response of 10 Hz – 40 kHz and an impedance of 18 Ohms.
Soundstage
The FA7s has a heavy soundstage with lots of layering and very wide wraparound. It gives a very clear binaural feeling with the level of separation and 3D imaging present. It isn’t the most natural sounding soundstage, it sounds immersive and does a great job of adding excitement to the mix. Additionally, the sound isolation is excellent and the dynamics are decently wide.
Lows
The bass on the FA7s is very supportive and full. It’s not quite as loud as some other IEMs, but it still sits in that sweet spot between anemic and overbearing. I can feel subs, I can hear kicks and bass parts, but I don’t feel like they take the lead role away from the lead instruments. The low mids also support the bass enough to give it a smooth punch that feels very natural.
Mids
The mids do a good job of being transparent while still taking some slight alterations into account in order to smooth out the sound. The low mids support the lows, and some slight cutting in the upper mids alleviates some harsh resonances.
Highs
The highs add a great sense of space to the mix and are subdued just to the point of not adding harshness, but still enough where they bring some life and brightness to the sound. While I wouldn’t describe them as mix-accurate, they still sound great and made my listening experience very enjoyable.
Overall
FiiO did an excellent job when designing the Fa7s. These are very pleasant and wide IEMs that don’t particularly lean too hard in any one direction, making them a great all around pair for somebody who listens to all genres and styles of music. I’d highly recommend these if you’re looking to change things up or buy your first pair of nice IEMs.
