The Momentum True Wireless 5 is a departure from Sennheiser’s usual earbud design. It’s like the Momentum True Wireless 3 and 4 have been squeezed to make the housing of the 5 narrower. The outer rubber piece is gone, leaving you with a slimmer, sleeker earphone that comes in an assortment of colors. I was lucky enough to receive the cream version, which is definitely the most eye-catching option available. As for the fit, this slimmer design allows for a less cumbersome feel, and as a result, it ensures the Momentum True Wireless 5 feels secure when it’s in your ear. I found this fit to be a lot more stable than past versions. You can wear them for hours without really noticing them, so the comfort level is definitely one of the Momentum True Wireless 5’s most notable upgrades.
Design & Functionality
The Momentum True Wireless 5 uses Sennheiser’s 7mm TrueResponse dynamic transducers, engineered to produce a natural, highly detailed sound with strong clarity and depth. The drivers cover a frequency range of 5Hz to 21kHz, while redesigned silicone ear tips help create a secure acoustic seal for improved bass response and isolation. Noise-canceling also helps with isolation, and it’s very strong this time around. ANC has always been good in Sennheiser’s earbuds but never the priority. For the Momentum True Wireless 5, the noise-canceling is slightly stronger, which makes for effective isolation from almost all major sound obstructions. Automatic wind-noise suppression helps maintain a quieter experience outdoors, while four microphones per earbud, beamforming technology, a voice accelerometer, and AI-powered voice isolation work together to reduce background noise and keep calls clear in busy environments.

Soundstage
Sennheiser is known for its accurate spatial imaging, even in its wireless products. The Momentum True Wireless 5 upholds that standard, with good separation that identifies channel identity. I don’t think the soundstage has an incredible wingspan, but it’s wide enough to showcase specific sound placement with a good amount of depth. Nothing ever feels congealed toward the middle, resulting in a true wireless soundstage that feels a lot more organized than other models. With the Momentum True Wireless 5, you get layers of sound that gracefully wrap around one another, as the headspace allows each instrument and effect to breathe in the mix. You don’t get any single sound element trying to fight for dominance. It’s not a super open presentation, but the Momentum True Wireless 5 uses its space with precision, earning itself a confident display of sound that you’re sure to be immersed in.
If that’s not enough, the Momentum True Wireless 5 also supports spatial audio with Dolby Atmos. However, like most implementations of 3D in recent Bluetooth headphones and earbuds, I don’t find it to be a great improvement in the sound. Spatial audio brings many carefully spaced-out stereo elements into the middle. Then it sort of pushes some sounds outward for a more holographic display, but it never sounds natural. Everything is too narrow and solidified. So, if you’re looking to be properly enveloped by the sonic environment, leave the Momentum True Wireless 5 in its standard stereo mode.
Low End
The Momentum series knows how to bring out the bass, no matter if it’s their over-ear headphones or earbuds. With the Momentum True Wireless 5, the lows are better than ever, supplying a thick tone that has plenty of depth. It’s not just a bass texture either; it’s a more physical response compared to past versions of the Momentum True Wireless. You get a more prominent bloom that feels smoother and deeper, resulting in a vigorous response that engrosses while still being orderly. The sub-bass extension is subtle but very effective for establishing foundational weight, while the mid-bass gets to feature richer frequency content. Everything is kept tight in terms of ressonance, but the tone is still strong and gratifying for listening to bass strings and synths.
Mids
There’s a good amount of detail here that makes the midrange pop in certain areas. The low mids are going to be pretty dominant, but the warmth is never bloated. Like the bass, resonance is kept tight, only exhibiting elements that complement the tone with coloration and clarity. You’ll hear refinement to plucks and hits without them really cutting through in any significant way. This gives the mids some lushness without actually being very resolving. The midrange appears clean and direct, never appearing hollow or like too many frequencies have been scooped out. Notes still don’t have a great amount of impact compared to their wired earbuds and headphones, but the clarity is still there for the most part.
Highs
The highs are not shy, but also not fatiguing in any sense. There’s a crisp clickiness to them that gives the frequencies good definition with a sense of flavor. It’s not very shimmery, but cymbal crashes and hi-hats still have clarity. There’s minimal air, but the timbre still has a natural, physical element that gives the Momentum True Wireless 5 sparkle with a sense of control. I really like how the sound rings out before dipping down with a noticeable roll-off. It makes the tuning feel precise, like you’re getting the most out of the highs before stepping back to give the mix a sense of balance and cohesion.
Summary
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5 is a meaningful refinement of the company’s flagship earbud formula. Its slimmer housing offers a more secure and comfortable fit, while stronger ANC, Bluetooth 6.0, aptX Lossless support, and replaceable batteries make it a particularly complete wireless package. Although the Dolby Atmos mode is less convincing than the standard stereo presentation, the earbuds deliver an organized soundstage and a rich, controlled tuning that plays to the Momentum series’ strengths.
