FiiO has announced the DP11, a compact desktop CD player that adds physical-media playback to hi-fi systems, powered speakers, and headphone setups. With a custom tray-loading mechanism, an integrated CS43198 DAC, extensive digital connectivity, and direct CD ripping, the DP11 aims to bridge traditional disc playback with modern desktop audio. The FiiO DP11 will launch in October for $185 It will arrive alongside FiiO’s Modular Hi-Fi Device Storage Rack, allowing the player to become part of a compact, stackable desktop system.
A Compact CD Player for Modern Hi-Fi Systems
The DP11 uses a custom tray-loading CD mechanism supported by optimized servo firmware and a low-noise mounting assembly. FiiO complements the mechanism with two ultra-low-phase-noise femtosecond crystal oscillators, intended to support accurate timing and stable digital playback. Its all-metal chassis measures 213 x 230 x 67 mm and weighs 1,802 grams. A 3.71-inch LCD display, quiet-loading disc tray, and included infrared remote give the player a traditional component-style experience in a desktop-friendly footprint. The remote provides convenient control over track selection and playback.
CS43198 DAC and Separated Internal Architecture
At the center of the FiiO DP11 is a CS43198 digital-to-analog converter feeding a stereo RCA line output. FiiO separates the CD servo, digital circuitry, and analog circuitry across dedicated PCB sections and power supplies to help limit interference between the player’s major systems. The RCA output delivers 2.2 Vrms into 10 kOhms. FiiO specifies a signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range of at least 109 dB, along with THD+N below 0.00068% in USB audio mode and below 0.0014% during CD playback.
Extensive Analog and Digital Output Options
The DP11 can operate as a complete CD player through its stereo RCA analog output or serve as a CD transport for an external DAC. Its digital outputs include AES over XLR, coaxial over RCA, and optical. AES and coaxial connections support signals up to 24-bit/192 kHz, while the optical output supports up to 24-bit/96 kHz. This connectivity makes the DP11 suitable for pairing with components such as the FiiO K17 streaming headphone amplifier, the EA13 speaker amplifier, or the K13 R2R DAC and headphone amplifier. It can also connect to compatible powered speakers or an existing hi-fi system. MQA-CD bitstream passthrough is supported, although decoding requires a compatible external MQA decoder.
Direct Lossless CD Ripping to USB
In addition to disc playback, the FiiO DP11 can rip CDs directly to USB storage in lossless WAV format. This gives listeners a straightforward way to digitize their collections without first connecting the player to a computer. CD ripping is limited to CDDA audio discs and requires a FAT32-formatted USB drive with a capacity of 32GB or less. The player provides a dedicated USB recording port for ripping as well as a separate USB connection for firmware updates.
USB DAC Playback up to DSD256
The DP11 also functions as a USB DAC, expanding its role beyond physical CD playback. Its USB audio input supports PCM signals up to 32-bit/384 kHz and native DSD256, allowing the unit to handle high-resolution playback from a compatible computer or digital source. FiiO lists a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with less than 0.1 dB of attenuation in USB audio mode and less than 1.3 dB in CD mode. The rated A-weighted noise floor is below 8.1 microvolts.
Flexible Power Options and Included Accessories
The DP11 includes a built-in universal switching power supply compatible with 100–240V AC power. Users can alternatively power the player through its 12V DC input using a supply rated for at least 2A, including a suitable external linear power supply.
