Boris FX has announced Samplitude 2026.5, an update to its standalone digital audio workstation focused on spatial mixing, flexible processing, and faster production workflows. The release introduces a Spatial Panner for managing stereo, surround, and immersive audio within one visual workspace, alongside new tools for multiband effects, Stream Deck control, and AI-powered stem separation. For music producers, sound designers, and audio professionals working across film, television, and gaming, the update aims to reduce repeated adjustments when preparing multiple mix formats.
Spatial Panner Connects Stereo, Surround, and Immersive Mixes
The new Samplitude Spatial Panner brings mono, stereo, surround, and immersive 3D channel formats into a single interactive workspace. Users can link panning across multiple target buses, allowing one source movement to update several mixes simultaneously. Each format can also be adjusted individually. Positioning tools include speaker snap, symmetry mode, and stereo spread and rotation controls. A dedicated Draw Mode allows users to draw and edit complex motion using Linear and Timing modes, adding another way to shape moving effects and musical elements. The feature’s format support depends on the edition. Samplitude Suite supports up to 7.1.4 surround, while standard Samplitude supports up to 5.1 surround. For productions requiring multiple spatial deliveries, connected panning could help reduce the time spent reconstructing source positions for each mix.
BandRack Adds Multiband Processing to VST3 Plugins
Included with Samplitude Suite, the BandRack plugin divides audio into up to six adjustable frequency bands. Users can apply VST3 plugin chains to specific bands, placing processing exactly where it is needed. This provides options for controlling bass dynamics, reducing harshness, or adding saturation to selected frequencies. Five presets offer starting points: 3-Band Master, Punch, Bass Control, De-Harsh, and Tape Warmth. BandRack also includes 33 built-in effects covering dynamics, distortion, saturation, tape emulation, brightness, and more. Its 16 customizable macros allow users to control multiple parameters with a single slider. Users can choose linear phase operation for transparent processing or zero-latency operation for tracking workflows.
Stream Deck OSC Adds Custom Editing and Mixing Controls
The new Stream Deck OSC plugin allows users to trigger any Samplitude menu command from an Elgato Stream Deck. Setup involves selecting an action, choosing from 400 included Samplitude icons, and assigning it to a key. Supported functions include playback, recording, click and loop controls, marker placement, and crossfade editor commands. Dedicated buttons give users quicker access to frequently repeated recording and editing tasks. Stream Deck+ support expands these capabilities with fader adjustments, monitoring controls, and true stereo VU metering.
SoundApp ARA Brings AI Stem Separation Into Samplitude
CrumplePop SoundApp ARA is now available directly within Samplitude’s Arrange Window. Included with Samplitude Suite, the Boris FX sister product delivers AI-driven stem separation and denoising tools.
Three separation options address different production needs:
- Music 4 Stems: Separates Voice, Drums, Bass, and Other.
- Cinematic 4 Stems: Separates Voice, Sound Effects, Music, and Other.
- Voice 2 Stems: Separates vocals from music.
The cinematic option is particularly relevant to post-production workflows that require separate access to dialogue, effects, and music elements. Samplitude 2026.5 also automatically detects compatible VST3 ARA plugins through its plugin scan, without requiring individual integration or whitelisting. This scanning feature is available in Music Studio as well.
Additional Workflow and Export Improvements
Samplitude 2026.5 includes updated EUCON support for greater stability and reliability. Waveform drawing now continues during playback, and users can move the play cursor to the beginning or end of a selected object. Enhanced sMax11 True Peak filtering improves peak detection and processing. The update also adds 32-bit integer exports for mastering and archival delivery. These changes complement the larger additions by addressing everyday editing, control, and output tasks.
