Design
Headband
The headband of the Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT is comfortable on my head because it doesn’t squeeze my head too tightly. It is made of plastic but has metal extenders. The headphones are foldable which makes them ideal for taking on-the-go. Additionally, the headband is flexible. As a result it will fit many different head sizes, including larger head and ear sizes. Lastly, the headband has a thin and light cushion on its underside which is coated with soft pleather.
Earcups
The earcups of the Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT are a great size! They’re manageable, while still fitting fully over the ears so you can escape from the world around you. They swivel freely in their yolks which makes them, again, ideal for a wide variety of head and ear shapes. Additionally, the left earcup has swipe control functions. More on those functions later.
Earpads
Just like the headband cushion, the earpads of the Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT are comfortable and coated with soft pleather. They are shaped so that there is a wide and tall space for the ear to sit, so folks with bigger ears will they’re ears aren’t falling out of the earpads.
Features
Bluetooth
The Audio Techinca ATH-ANC700BT can connect to Bluetooth enabled devices via Bluetooth 4.1. The connection is very strong, and will stay connected well over 30 ft, even without line of site. Additionally, the headphones have a super long battery life. If you’re using them wirelessly and with noise cancellation, the battery will last 25 hours!
Noise Cancellation
The QuietPoint Noise Cancellation of the Audio Technica ATH-ANC-700BT does a great job of cancelling out low and low-mid frequencies around you. It is not super strong in the high-mids or high frequencies. As a result, the cancellation is light and pleasant. It is a more comfortable noise cancellation than some other types.
Earcup Touch Controls
Onboard the left earcup of the Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT are touch controls for turning the volume up and down, skipping or going back to the previous track, play and pause, as well as activating Siri and answer phone calls. The earcup is responsive and these functions work as expected.
Sound
The Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT has a solid and accented bass response that makes bass synths, kick drums, and other low frequency information bump. This low end doesn’t get in the way of the mid range so it still has a lot of separation between the lows and the mids of the guitars, horns, other synths and string instruments, and vocals. The highs are clear but a little bit polite level-wise. As a result, cymbals and air from vocal is there, but just tucked back a bit. Additionally, vocals are not sibilant at all.
Overview
The Audio Technica ATH-ANC700BT wireless noise cancelling headphones are awesome noise cancelling headphones for just $199. They have a good sound, an easygoing and pleasant noise cancellation, and a very strong Bluetooth connection.
