FIT – Audio-Technica ATH-Sport70BT Wireless Headphones Review

The ATH-Sport70BT don’t feel like the most snug sports earphones I’ve worn. But the ear hook is sturdy, and when I thrashed my head around like a lunatic, the hooks kept them in my ears. Despite their shape, they’re also very light.

DESIGN – Audio-Technica ATH-Sport70BT Wireless Headphones Review

These buds are funny looking. They don’t exactly fall into the small and cute category. So, what’s the purpose of these bulky rectangles attached to the earphones? Well, the left side has a touch sensor that allows you to switch to ambient mode so that you can hear all the crap going on around you. This is important if you’re running on the street or riding a bike. In fact, I’ve never seen this feature on a sports earphone. Smart! These rectangles also work as handles to make putting in and taking out the buds easier with your sweaty little fingers.

What else have we got? It’s waterproof. You can sweat buckets and then rinse the earphones off. These buds can take the abuse. 6 hours of battery life, which is about standard for wireless in-ear headphones. It’s got the usual mic and remote, which allows you to skip tracks, play/pause, answer calls and adjust volume.

The ATH-Sport70BT comes in black and rose.

SOUND – Audio-Technica ATH-Sport70BT Wireless Headphones Review

Like many wireless earphones, the ATH-Sport70BT don’t get very loud. But I’ve heard other wireless buds with more volume. However, the bass on the ATH-Sport 70BT is HUGE. A phenomenal subwoofer feel that’s perfect for pop, hip-hop and EDM. Unfortunately, the bass eats everything else up. I can hardly hear the mids and highs. So, if you mainly listen to rock or classical, you’re frequen’ out of luck.

SUMMARY – Audio-Technica ATH-Sport70BT Wireless Headphones Review

The most impressive feature about these headphones is the ambient noise function. It’s an important safety measure for sure. And if you’re a bass-head, you’ll love these. Pop, hip-hop and EDM listeners should be satisfied. But if you appreciate a more balanced, high quality sound, you’re better off spending an extra 20 bucks on the Sennhesier CX Sport. In terms of sound, it’s a far superior headphone. And it’s got the same features minus the ear hook and Ambient Noise Hear-through Function.
