The world of high-end headphones is evolving fast, and few products capture that shift better than the HiFiMAN HE1000 WiFi. Combining flagship planar magnetic performance with fully integrated wireless streaming, DAC, and amplification, this headphone aims to redefine what a modern audiophile setup can look like. Instead of relying on traditional desktop gear, the HE1000 WiFi offers an all-in-one solution designed for convenience without abandoning sound quality.
Let’s take a deep dive into the HiFiMAN HE1000 WiFi headphones—examining their updated design, advanced driver technology, wireless capabilities, and overall sound performance to see if they truly deliver a high-end listening experience without the wires.

Look & Feel
For the HE1000 WiFi, HiFiMAN didn’t just take the HE1000 and remove its cable. They actually took the HE1000 and refined a lot of its separate parts and modernized them to fit with their modern catalog. It surprisingly makes for one of HiFiMAN’s most luxurious designs. The HE1000 WiFi combines the ear cups of the HE1000 Unveiled and gives them a new grille window and new brown ear cushions, matching its new suspension headband that is the same composite design used for HiFiMAN’s recent releases like the Edition XV and Ananda Unveiled. All of these new aspects make the HE1000’s design more comfortable and lightweight than ever. The HE1000 WiFi might be the most comfortable HiFiMAN headphone I’ve worn, with a secure circumaural fit that feels plush and breathable.
Design
The HE1000 WiFi uses HiFiMAN’s planar stealth magnet driver, which features a nano-thickness diaphragm alongside an integrated R2R Hymalaya DAC and built-in Class A/B amplifier. Connecting the headphones through wifi is its main function, but it also supports LDAC Bluetooth if you want a simpler connection. WiFi streaming is what you really buy these headphones for, though, as it enables lossless audio resolution. The process to enable the wifi connection is a bit more complicated, but as long as you follow the directions the right way, it’s not too big of a hassle. The unit also includes an internal battery, wireless connectivity hardware, and support for ultra-high-resolution formats (up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and DSD512), positioning it as an all-in-one audiophile solution rather than just a traditional headphone. At full charge, the HE1000 WiFi should give you around seven hours of wireless listening and about 23 hours of Bluetooth listening.
Soundstage
The HE1000 is one of the widest and most holographic soundstages that planar headphones offer, especially in the unveiled version. When using the HE1000 WiFi on a wireless network, that sense of openness is reduced. While the spatial imaging still maintains an accurate sense of instrumental positioning, the headspace appears narrower overall. However, this didn’t make me completely swear off the stereo field presentation, as I was expecting some modifications to the HE1000’s sound via the WiFi translation. Everything still feels like the structure of a HiFiMAN soundstage, with its floaty spatial properties and spherical display. The soundstage can still wrap around your head quite effectively, allowing for deep immersion. Even with the HE1000 WiFi’s compact size, the soundstage still feels premium and is definitely one of the best you can hear over a wireless signal.
Low End
When compared to the original HiFiMAN HE1000, the WiFi version is very close to how the bass frequencies perform. Nothing is ever quite as bouncy, but the bass tone expresses solid power and depth. There’s a wide range of detail in the bass, with a consistent, but subtle, propulsion of sub-bass vibration and mid-bass bloom. This results in a low-end that feels dynamic and natural without being too boring and flat. Notes are realistic and are rendered with high resolution. While the bass extension might not be the punchiest or most bodied frequencies, the tone is arrived at with a good level of finesse. which makes the lows very gratifying.
Mids
While the midrange isn’t as articulate as the other versions of the HE1000, the HE1000 WiFi does a good job of maintaining clarity over a wireless signal. You get more of a breath from the low-mids than you do in the fundamental frequencies, and there’s a slight veil in the upper-midrange; however, the timbre still appears quite clean. There is tons of room for the midrange to move around as it should, which results in smooth textures with enough energy to give instruments shape and scale.
Highs
If you’re hoping to hear the HE1000 WiFi give you that HiFiMAN treble brilliance, you won’t be disappointed. While some of the high-end frequencies can be a bit sharper than the standard models, the HE1000 WiFi still provides sparkle and texture throughout its sound signature.
Summary
The HiFiMAN HE1000 WiFi is a bold step toward the future of audiophile listening, merging premium planar magnetic sound with the convenience of wireless streaming and onboard processing. While it doesn’t fully replicate the expansive soundstage and ultimate precision of its wired counterparts, it comes impressively close, especially considering the complexity of its all-in-one design. For audiophiles looking to streamline their setup without sacrificing too much performance, the HiFiMAN HE1000 WiFi is a compelling option. It may not replace a full desktop chain for purists, but as a self-contained, high-resolution listening system, it represents one of the most innovative and practical solutions currently available.
