FIT – JBL Under Armour Sport Wireless Heart Rate Headphones Review

On of the best things about JBL sports headphones is the fit. There’s no other brand that feels this secure. The ear tips work almost like suction cups. I’m confident that one could do back flips while sweating buckets, and they wouldn’t fall out. They have TwistLock technology, which means that you pop them in and then turn them to lock them in place.

DESIGN and FEATURES – JBL Under Armour Sport Wireless Heart Rate Headphones Review

This is the first heart rate monitor headphone I’ve tested without one of those annoying neck bands. The monitor works through a sensor on the left earpiece. You simply tap the right earbud to get an instant audible reading. I gave it a try. The lady who lives in the earpiece immediately detected my heart rate. And considering the coffee and cigarette I had moments before, I found the reading to be very believable.

Apart from being sweat proof, JBL advertises this headphone as being super durable. Indeed, based on the look and feel of these buds, I think they will last a long time.

If you have an Under Armor wrist band, you’ll be able to synchronize it with your headphones. The headphones also come with a free one-year membership to the MapMyRun app. And you can connect them to UA Record, an Under Armour app that allows you to collect data, track your progress and set fitness goals. MapMyRun and UA Record will work together as a cohesive data collecting service.

You get 5 hours of usage per charge, which is on the lower end of standard for wireless in-ear headphones. And, of course, you have the usual cable mic and remote, which allows you to play/pause, skip and answer calls.

SOUND – JBL Under Armour Sport Wireless Heart Rate Headphones Review

For wireless headphones, these buds sound fantastic. In fact, I was quite surprised by the high quality. In typical JBL fashion, it’s got a killer, deep bass. So, it’s perfect for pop, hip-hop and EDM. But unlike cheaper models, the lows don’t muddy the mix too much. Instead, you get is a nicely balanced sound, with a full mid range and round highs. These earphones will work just fine for any genre. I wouldn’t call them audiophile level. But for sports headphones, they’re more than decent.

SUMMARY – JBL Under Armour Sport Wireless Heart Rate Headphones Review

Super efficient heart rate monitor, great sound, perfect fit. The price seems fair. I have nothing bad to say. I highly recommend these earphones for absolutely any athletic activity (besides swimming, of course).
