Update 4/04/2017: Nearbuds Airpods Edition are now available on Kickstarter.

Since the release of the first images of AirPods, the number one question has been how do those earbuds that resemble the tip of an automatic toothbrush stay in your ears? “With Nearbuds, we got the bright idea to attach magnets to the earbud and jack pieces of our EarPods. That way, we could fasten all three components together to stash them in a pocket or backpack, or just stick them to our fridge or a desk lamp at home. We also loved the idea of wearing them necklace style when we didn’t want them in our ears. This is the same innovative functionality that we’ve introduced to Apple’s new wireless AirPods,” said Nearbuds founder Luke MacKay.

Nearbuds for AirPods take their innovative technology for securing your basic buds around your neck, or on your computer, or on your clothes and apply them to the cable-free design of Apple AirPods. Nearbuds, which launched in 2014, are magnetic clips with durable and malleable plastic housings. They AirPods Edition also feature an adjustable strap between each ear piece. Fabricate Inc. used “Snap-On” technology in their designs to ensure no glue was required in the manufacturing process. This means the magnets will never come apart from their housings.

The Nearbuds AirPods Edition will launch a Kickstarter campaign April 4 for 35 days where you can expect to grab the headphones accessory at a discounted price of $18.50 USD.
