New Release: Focal Headphones with HiFi Speakers

Focal has got three new headphones models ranging from affordable to break the bank. The affordable model is called Listen. The over-the-ear can is designed for commuters and said to be lightweight. The frame is collapsible and closed-back. It uses cone technology to offer remarkable neutrality and sound quality. Although we haven’t gotten our hands on it, Techno Buffalo has, saying Listen is “packed in titanium coated mylar drivers for a nice deep bass, along with memory foam padding on the ear cups.” The headphones reach a frequency response of 15 – 22,000 Hertz. It is currently available for pre-order for $249.

Focal’s second release is modeled after their very expensive and very impressive Grand Utopia speakers which retail at $22,000. The Focal Utopia hi-def headphones are modeled using the same practice and innovation that took to create their Utopia speakers. These open-back headphones deliver “striking realism, neutrality, dynamics and clarity, for sound with unrivalled purity.” Techno Buffalo has also tried Utopia, saying the headphones are nothing short of amazing.

“The Utopia headphones feature an expensive beryllium driver in each ear cup for an amazingly accurate sound, which I can confirm based on my brief mind-blowing demo. These really are amazing headphones.”

In speaking on the creation of the Utopia headphones, Focal’s North America President Ben Jensen said, “With Utopia, we challenged our engineers and designers to create a reference headphone that equals the sonic excellence found in our other premium lines in Hi-Fi, automotive and professional monitoring.”

Utopia is available for pre-order for $3,999.
