Look & Feel
Noble Audio IEMs can pretty much always be relied upon for crafty, artisan designs. I love when IEMs have a theme, and the Iris uses its theme for every detail of its shell artwork. The iris flower is the main inspiration for the overall texture, set on top of a CNC-machined shell of blue Micarta. It’s shaped like a typical IEM that prioritizes ergonomics, and the housing is a good size to have a natural fit. The spout also has the right size and length to help hold the shell in place while your selection of ear tips supplies the comfort.
Design
The Noble Audio Iris uses a single custom 10.2mm dynamic driver with a three-layer PU and PEEK diaphragm designed to move smoothly while maintaining control across the frequency range. A dual neodymium iron-boron magnet system supports strong dynamics and controlled low-frequency reproduction, while a triple-chamber acoustic structure manages internal airflow to refine clarity and imaging. The Iris has a frequency response of 20Hz–20kHz, an impedance of 34 ohms, and a sensitivity of 113dB at 1kHz.
Soundstage
It’s hard to find a soundstage as punctual and organized as the Noble Iris is. Everything about how it reproduces the stereo image is highly accurate, as with a proper monitor. Instruments and vocals are layered and precise, anchored to their space while still being wide and dimensional. Nothing about the Iris is holographic, but its level of spaciousness is still very immersive with just its natural stereo sound field.
The Iris is one of the few IEMs I’ve heard in this price range that can truly replicate a control room setting in its soundstage. Separation is key to achieving that, with individual elements possessing their own carved-out space for easy localization and critical assessment. Nothing comes across as a straight line like some accurate IEMs tend to do. The imaging has great height and scale, with a headspace that is far less limiting than other monitoring IEMs. Your head feels encapsulated by the soundstage, and it only works to elevate just how unified the presentation is.
Low End
While not the punchiest bass, the Noble Iris has a full low end that provides just enough ground to give it some edge. For the most part, the Iris has a balanced bass that is mainly used to support the sound signature with a strong foundation. The Iris is great at establishing that, with a rounded bass tone, albeit soft, but still rich and engrossing. You get good sub-bass depth that doesn’t particularly rumble, but has a transparency that allows the bass to feel tight and articulate. If you’re strictly listening for discernible basslines, the Iris won’t let you down. This is not the kind of IEM that will deliver a ferocious slam, but you can sense its natural timbre with every thrum. Jazz and slow rock bass are where you’ll find the low end’s best attributes.
Mids
The midrange is expressive and clean, maintaining a high standard in fidelity throughout the frequency resposne. It’s lush and expansive, with intricate detail for raw instrumentals and vocal artifacts. Its resolution is totally unveiled, communicating articulate string, brass, and piano arrangements with natural grace. Nothing is ever left in the background. All the sound elements operate on the same playing field, exhibiting room for the midrange to express clean notes that have a succinct strike with controlled resonance. Vocals appear lively and realistic, with a crisp, forward resposne that feels raw and enticing. It makes the Iris perfect for discerning vocal clarity.
Highs
The treble strikes the perfect middle ground between smooth and sizzly. There is a clear presence to high frequencies that never feels harsh or overly bright. Cymbals still have a clicky sparkle that never results in piercing textures, just tight rings that accentuate. It’s a clear and detailed tone that feels complete, with the emphasis in the mid-treble that raises the height of the frequencies, allowing for slightly more air to be a part of the tone without losing focus in the sound signature.
