Yamaha has announced two new compact components designed to combine traditional Hi-Fi performance with modern streaming and smart-home integration. The Yamaha WXA-70A Compact Streaming Amplifier and WXC-70A Compact Streamer offer high-resolution playback, extensive wireless connectivity and room-correction technology in space-efficient aluminum enclosures.
The WXA-70A is an integrated streaming amplifier capable of driving passive speakers, while the WXC-70A is intended to add streaming and preamplifier functions to an existing Hi-Fi system. Both models support Yamaha MusicCast, HDMI eARC, YPAO room calibration, and several major streaming platforms.
Compact Components Built Around Yamaha Hi-Fi Engineering
Yamaha says it designed the WXA-70A and WXC-70A to approach the musical scale and refinement of larger Hi-Fi components. Both models use rigid aluminum enclosures with reinforced chassis construction, damping materials and carefully designed heat management. The internal layouts separate digital and analog circuit areas while routing sensitive audio circuitry away from power components. These measures are intended to reduce vibration, resonance and electrical interference that could obscure low-level musical information.
At the center of each component is an ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M DAC. Yamaha pairs the converter with its proprietary D.O.P.G., or DAC on Pure Ground, circuit configuration, which creates a cleaner ground environment for the analog audio signal. Incoming digital signals also pass through an asynchronous sample-rate conversion system. This ASRC technology rebuilds timing information using a more precise internal clock, helping reduce jitter from sources such as wireless streams and television audio.
Yamaha WXA-70A Combines Streaming With Class D Amplification
The Yamaha WXA-70A is the all-in-one option of the two new components. It combines network streaming, source control and Class D amplification inside a compact chassis. Its new-generation ICEPower 125ASX2 amplifier delivers a claimed 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms or 105 watts per channel into 4 ohms. That output should allow the WXA-70A to power a variety of bookshelf and floor-standing speakers without requiring a separate power amplifier.
In addition to its wireless features, the WXA-70A includes HDMI eARC for connecting a television, as well as inputs for components such as a turntable and CD player. This positions the amplifier as a central hub for music, television and traditional audio sources.
Yamaha WXC-70A Adds Streaming to Existing Hi-Fi Systems
The Yamaha WXC-70A provides many of the same streaming, processing, and connectivity features without built-in speaker amplification. It is designed for listeners who already own an amplifier, powered speakers, or another established audio system. Versatile analog and digital outputs allow the WXC-70A to operate as either a dedicated network player or a streaming preamplifier. This gives users the flexibility to retain their current amplifier while adding MusicCast, high-resolution streaming, room correction, and HDMI connectivity. Both the WXC-70A and WXA-70A also include front-panel OLED displays and dedicated remote controls.
YPAO Room Calibration Comes to Both Models
One of the more notable features shared by the WXA-70A and WXC-70A is Yamaha’s YPAO room-calibration system. Using the included microphone, YPAO measures how the speakers interact with the room and automatically adjusts playback. The technology accounts for factors such as speaker placement, wall materials, and room dimensions. Yamaha says the resulting adjustments produce a more balanced and natural soundstage without requiring extensive acoustic setup or manual equalization. Including YPAO on both products also means listeners can access room correction whether they choose the integrated WXA-70A amplifier or add the WXC-70A streamer to an existing system.
MusicCast, Roon Ready and Major Streaming Services
Both components support Yamaha MusicCast, enabling users to select sources, adjust settings and group compatible Yamaha devices through the MusicCast app. This allows the WXA-70A and WXC-70A to function as part of a multi-room audio system.

HDMI eARC Brings Hi-Fi Sound to TV Systems
HDMI eARC/ARC connectivity allows either Yamaha component to receive television audio through a single HDMI cable. Compatible TV remotes can also control basic functions such as power and volume. Yamaha’s Dialogue Level control can raise the clarity of voices in films, television programs and sports without substantially increasing the overall listening level. Meanwhile, the same ASRC clock-rebuilding system used for music playback helps stabilize the incoming TV audio signal. The WXA-70A can directly power a pair of passive speakers for a streamlined television system. The WXC-70A offers similar TV and streaming functionality for systems using a separate amplifier or active speakers.
Designed for Custom Installation and Smart Homes
Yamaha has also equipped the WXA-70A and WXC-70A for professional installation. Both models support Control4, allowing them to operate as part of a broader smart-home system. A browser-based setup interface provides access to network configuration and system settings. Installers can disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth independently to prevent unintended source selection when those connections are not required. Additional integration features include a wired IR input and 12V trigger support. Yamaha will also offer installation options suitable for rack-shelf configurations.
The Yamaha WXA-70A Compact Streaming Amplifier will be priced at $1,300, and the Yamaha WXC-70A Compact Streamer will be priced at $1,000.
