Amazon headphones, really?! Here are all the details we know about the their patent on safety-first noise-cancelling headphones.
Amazon Headphones with Noise-Cancellation
First off, the information on the headphones-to-be came to light after their patent was approved by the United States Patent and Trademark Office earlier this week. Their patent revealed a headphone aimed at tuning the world out around you, but not without a few safety parameters. According to an accompanying diagram, the headphones will be able to spot keywords, such as names, safety words like “stop” or even sirens to keep you aware. I like the sound of that. Get it? But seriously, your headphones will continue to play music, mute the annoying city hum, and allow the “safe” words in is an excellent concept.
As The Memo pointed out, “A 2012 study from the US found the number of deaths or serious injuries where headphones played a part had tripled between 2005 and 2011. In the study of 116 incidents, being struck by a train was the most common cause of fatality.” Yikes!
That being said, I so hope this patent sees the light of day and sometime in the near future. I live in New York City and could do with a safety-first-but-noise-cancelling-is-still-poppin headphones.
