A couple months back Sennheiser quietly released their media player app CapTune, going unnoticed to most. At some point Sennheiser struck a deal with Tidal to give users a free 90 day unlimited subscription to their streaming service. Which is pretty amazing considering Tidal’s premium HIFI Lossless subscriptions runs $20 a month.
All you have to do after downloading CapTune from your phones app store is to navigate to the settings page and select Tidal as your streaming service. Notice the 90 days included banner, if the banner is not there I can only image the offer has ended. Then all you have to do is setup your Tidal account information, you have to enter your payment information and link a card no charges will be made to your account. Just remember to cancel your subscription before getting charged after 90 days. After the initial setup through the CapTune App you can download the standalone Tidal phone/computer app and log-in. If you’re not aware the lossless HIFI streaming eats up an insane amount of data to be sure to be connected to wifi or download tracks to your phone.
Being a person who gave Tidal a lot of flack for their less than stellar launch, barren catalog, and at that point in time overpriced service. Not keeping up with any changes the app has been making over the last few months I considered the service a lost cause that would slowly die in comparison to Spotify and Apple Music who have been ruling the streaming market. I’m pretty impressed with the changes and quality of the service, and might hop over on their $10/month subscription after the 90 day trial run.
