FiiO has officially announced the FG3, a new over-ear gaming headset that brings the company’s Hi-Fi audio engineering experience to the entry-level gaming market. Known for its affordable music players, DACs, headphone amplifiers, and award-winning IEMs, FiiO is now applying that same audio-focused approach to gaming with a headset built for positional accuracy, immersive sound, and clear voice communication.
Priced at $69.99, the FiiO FG3 aims to deliver a more refined gaming audio experience without moving into premium headset pricing. It combines a coaxial dual-dynamic-driver system, dedicated DSP processing, virtual 7.1 surround sound, and browser-based EQ customization in a plug-and-play design for PCs, consoles, smartphones, and laptops.

Hi-Fi Engineering Meets Gaming Audio
At the core of the FiiO FG3 is a unique coaxial dual dynamic driver arrangement that uses both a 50mm dynamic driver and a 16mm dynamic driver. This setup is designed to radiate sound from a single point source, helping preserve phase consistency and directionality.
For gaming, this can make a major difference. Positional audio is one of the most important elements of a good gaming headset, especially in competitive titles where footsteps, reloads, environmental cues, and teammate callouts need to be placed accurately. By focusing on directionality and soundstage, FiiO has designed the FG3 to offer a more precise and spacious presentation than many conventional entry-level gaming headsets.
The headset also uses an electronic two-way crossover. Low and mid frequencies are handled by the 50mm composite diaphragm driver, while the 16mm titanium-plated diaphragm driver is dedicated to high frequencies. This design helps extend the FG3’s frequency response from 10Hz to 40kHz while improving clarity and detail across the spectrum.

Built-In DSP, DAC, and Amplifier
The FiiO FG3 gaming headset features a high-performance dual-core DSP chip designed to handle complex gaming audio with low latency and fast response. This dedicated processing system works alongside an integrated DAC that supports up to 192kHz/24-bit audio.
FiiO has also included a built-in headphone amplifier capable of delivering up to 80mW of output power. Together, the DSP, DAC, and amplifier are intended to reproduce everything from quiet background details to large cinematic effects with better control and precision.
This makes the FG3 more than just a simple USB gaming headset. Its internal audio hardware gives it a more complete signal chain, allowing FiiO to bring its Hi-Fi background into a gaming-focused product.
Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound for Immersive Gameplay
For players who want a more immersive experience, the FiiO FG3 includes a specially tuned virtual 7.1 surround sound algorithm. This processing is designed to create a 360-degree soundstage that can help users better identify directional cues in games while also adding scale to movies and other media.
The headset offers two surround modes: Cinema mode and Action mode. Cinema mode is intended for a broader, more cinematic presentation, while Action mode is built around the intensity and speed of gaming. These listening modes give users more flexibility depending on whether they are playing competitive games, enjoying single-player campaigns, or watching films.
Detachable ENC Microphone and Sidetone Monitoring
Clear communication is another major part of the FiiO FG3’s design. The headset includes a detachable microphone with an Environmental Noise Cancellation algorithm. This ENC processing helps reduce common background sounds such as keyboard clicks and mouse noise, keeping voice chat clearer during online play.
The FG3 also supports hardware-based sidetone monitoring. This allows users to hear their own voice while speaking, helping them avoid shouting during intense sessions. Through the FiiO Control WEB interface, sidetone can be turned on or off, and its level can be adjusted directly.
Browser-Based EQ with FiiO Control WEB
Instead of requiring a dedicated desktop app, the FiiO FG3 uses the browser-based FiiO Control WEB platform for customization. Through this interface, users can create and save custom 10-band EQ settings directly to the headset.
This makes the FG3 easier to adjust across different devices, especially for users who do not want to install extra software. The headset can store custom profiles, allowing players to switch between different sound settings for gaming, music, movies, or voice chat.
Plug-and-Play Compatibility Across PCs and Consoles
The FiiO FG3 is designed for wide platform support. Its driver-free plug-and-play setup works with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows 11, smartphones, and laptops. Adaptive UAC 1.0 and UAC 2.0 compatibility also enables support for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and Nintendo Switch 2.
For connections, the headset supports USB-C and USB-A, with included cable lengths of 1.5m and 0.7m. Inline controls provide quick access to volume adjustment, microphone mute, and audio mode switching without interrupting gameplay.
Comfort-Focused Foldable Design
The FiiO FG3 uses a closed-back over-ear design with a foldable frame for easier storage and portability. The headset weighs approximately 315g with the microphone attached, keeping it relatively manageable for long play sessions.
Comfort features include breathable woven mesh ear pads, memory foam cushioning, and a HiFi-grade stainless steel headband. The ear pads are also swappable, giving the headset a more practical long-term design. With a listed clamping force of 3.8N ± 0.3N, the FG3 is built to stay secure while remaining comfortable during extended gaming sessions.
